India’s bowling performances in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup have often relied on discipline, variety and breakthroughs at important stages. Across different editions, spinners have played a major role, while seamers have also produced decisive spells in key matches.

    1. Poonam Yadav – 28 Wickets

Poonam Yadav leads India’s wicket-taking chart in Women’s T20 World Cup history, having claimed 28 wickets in 18 matches between 2014 and 2020. Her leg-spin was particularly effective in the format, built around sharp turn, flight and subtle changes in pace.

Her best figures of 4/19 came against Australia in the 2020 edition, a spell that shifted the momentum against one of the strongest sides in the competition. The same tournament was also her most productive World Cup campaign, as she took 10 wickets and played a major role in India’s run to the final.

At her peak, Poonam was India’s leading attacking option through the middle overs, regularly forcing batters into mistakes.

    2. Deepti Sharma – 19 Wickets

Deepti Sharma sits second on the list with 19 wickets in 19 matches from 2018 to 2024. As a dependable all-rounder, her value has often come from control, pressure and timely breakthroughs rather than outright dominance.

Her best figures of 3/15 underline her ability to break partnerships while keeping the scoring rate in check. One of her notable performances came against West Indies in the 2023 edition, where she delivered a tight and effective spell.

Deepti’s most consistent tournament came in 2020, when she supported India’s attack throughout their run to the final, often restricting runs while also contributing with wickets.

    3. Radha Yadav – 18 Wickets

Radha Yadav has been one of India’s most reliable middle-overs bowlers in the tournament, taking 18 wickets in just 13 matches. Her left-arm spin gives India variety and control, especially in high-pressure phases.

Her best figures of 4/23 came against Sri Lanka in the 2023 edition, where she produced a decisive spell to break through the batting order. That tournament was among her strongest, with regular wickets at important moments.

With her solid average and strike rate, Radha has established herself as a bowler capable of both containing runs and creating breakthroughs.

    4. Renuka Singh – 14 Wickets

Renuka Singh has made a quick impact in the Women’s T20 World Cup, picking up 14 wickets in just 9 matches across the 2023 and 2024 editions. As a frontline pace option, she brings a different dimension to India’s traditionally spin-heavy attack.

Her standout performance came against England, where she returned outstanding figures of 5/15 in four overs. It was a complete spell, featuring early strikes in the powerplay, pressure through the middle overs and control at the death.

The 2023 edition was her best tournament, with Renuka consistently providing early breakthroughs and giving India strong starts with the ball.

    5. Shikha Pandey – 12 Wickets

Shikha Pandey completes the top five with 12 wickets in 15 matches between 2014 and 2023. As a seam-bowling all-rounder, she gave India a dependable option across multiple editions.

Her best figures of 3/14 highlight her ability to bowl economical spells while still taking wickets. Her most important contributions came in the 2020 edition, where she picked up 7 wickets and supported India’s run to the final.

Pandey’s consistency, discipline and ability to follow plans made her a valuable part of India’s attack over several tournaments.

These figures offer a clear look at India’s leading wicket-takers in Women’s T20 World Cup history. With some of these players still active and another edition approaching, the list could change as new performances shape the tournament’s next chapter.
