The Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2026 is set to return with a bigger and more exciting competition. The fifth edition of the tournament, officially called the Limacol WCPL 2026, will be played from September 5 to September 17, 2026. For the first time, four teams will take part in the competition, with Jamaica Empress becoming the latest franchise.
All eight matches will be played at the historic Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. The tournament will give fans an opportunity to watch some of the biggest names in women’s cricket alongside leading West Indies players. With the competition expanding to four teams, the race for the title is expected to be closely fought.
WCPL 2026 Schedule and Format
The WCPL 2026 schedule features eight matches in total. The four teams will play a single round robin stage, meaning every team will face the other three teams once.
The team finishing at the top of the table will qualify directly for the final. The teams finishing second and third will meet in the playoff, with the winner earning a place in the final against the top ranked team.
The league stage will run from September 5 to September 13, followed by the playoff on September 16. The final will take place on September 17 at Kensington Oval.
Women’s CPL 2026 Teams
The Women’s CPL 2026 teams include Barbados Tridents, Trinbago Knight Riders, Guyana Amazon Warriors and new franchise Jamaica Empress.
Barbados Tridents enter the tournament as the biggest favourites. Formerly known as Barbados Royals, they have won the last three editions in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Hayley Matthews will be one of their biggest stars, while Aaliyah Alleyne, Qiana Joseph, Marizanne Kapp and Shabnim Ismail add plenty of quality to the squad.
Trinbago Knight Riders are the inaugural champions and will be looking to regain the title. Deandra Dottin, Meg Lanning and Suzie Bates bring huge international experience, while Karishma Ramharack adds strength to their bowling attack.
Guyana Amazon Warriors have regularly been strong contenders and will once again depend on their all round depth and spin bowling. Stafanie Taylor, Shemaine Campbelle, Ashmini Munisar and Shabika Gajnabi are among the players to watch.
Jamaica Empress are the new team in the tournament. Their arrival makes the 2026 edition particularly interesting because there is no previous head to head record against the other three teams. Chinelle Henry, Rashada Williams, Chedean Nation and Vanessa Watts will be important players for the new franchise.
Players and Storylines to Watch
The presence of international stars could make a major difference during the tournament. Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kapp, Suzie Bates and Shabnim Ismail have vast experience in T20 cricket and can influence matches in different ways.
The biggest storyline will be Barbados Tridents’ attempt to win a fourth consecutive title. Playing every match at home could give them an additional advantage, but the short league stage means there is very little room for mistakes.
Jamaica Empress will also be one of the biggest attractions. With only three league matches for each team, one strong performance can quickly change the qualification race.
The Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2026 promises to be an important event for women’s cricket in the Caribbean. With four teams, major international names and a new franchise, WCPL 2026 has all the ingredients for a competitive and entertaining tournament.
