Fatima Sana will lead a refreshed Pakistan women’s national cricket team in their upcoming white-ball series against Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team, as preparations intensify ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Zimbabwe are scheduled to arrive in Karachi on April 29 and begin their preparations before the ODI leg of the tour, with matches set for May 6 and 9. The series will then transition into a three-match T20I contest starting May 12.

    Fresh Faces in Pakistan Squad

Pakistan have named a new-look squad for the series, with Momina Riasat receiving her maiden call-up. The selection reflects a balance between emerging players and experienced campaigners, as the team looks to build consistency in the 50-over format.

Positive Signs from South Africa Series

Pakistan head into the Zimbabwe series following a competitive ODI campaign against South Africa, where they went down 2–1 but showed clear signs of progress.

Leading from the front, Fatima Sana delivered impactful performances with both bat and ball. She accumulated 117 runs and claimed four wickets across the series, maintaining a strike rate of 136.04.

After a quiet start, she responded with a 52 off 36 balls in the second ODI, setting a new record for the fastest fifty by a Pakistani woman. She then improved on that mark in the third ODI, scoring 60 off 41 balls to help Pakistan post 306/8, their highest total against South Africa.

Building Momentum Ahead of Key Events

Fatima’s performances highlighted a shift in Pakistan’s approach, with increased attacking intent and confidence evident throughout the series.

The upcoming fixtures against Zimbabwe provide an opportunity for the side to fine-tune combinations and continue building momentum as they prepare for major international tournaments.
