The rise of WPL has completely changed women’s cricket in India and around the world. The Women’s Premier League is no longer just a new tournament. It has now become one of the biggest cricket leagues globally. From record breaking matches to rising Indian stars and major captaincy changes, WPL 2026 gave fans everything they wanted.

The league stayed in the headlines throughout the season and continued trending even after the final ended. Massive crowds, strong TV ratings, and exciting cricket have made WPL one of the hottest topics in sports today.

    Has RCB women won WPL?

One of the biggest questions among fans has been, “Has RCB women won WPL?” The answer is yes, and now they have done it twice.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women created history by winning their second WPL title in 2026. The final against Delhi Capitals Women at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara became one of the greatest matches in WPL history.

Delhi Capitals scored a huge total of 203 for 4 after brilliant batting from Jemimah Rodrigues and Chinelle Henry. However, RCB chased the target successfully with four wickets and two balls remaining.

The massive loss to RCB in WPL 2026 was another heartbreaking moment for Delhi Capitals, who suffered their fourth straight final defeat.

Smriti Mandhana leads from the front

Fans also continue asking, “Who is the current captain of RCB in WPL?” The answer is Smriti Mandhana.

Mandhana played one of the best innings of her career in the final. She smashed 87 runs from just 41 balls and formed a stunning 165 run partnership with Georgia Voll.

Mandhana finished the season with the Orange Cap after scoring 377 runs. Her leadership and batting made a huge difference for RCB throughout WPL 2026.

Meg Lanning captaincy switch shocks fans

Another major talking point this season was Meg Lanning changing teams.

Meg Lanning WPL career and statistics have already made her one of the greatest players in the tournament. After leading Delhi Capitals to multiple finals, she was released before the 2026 auction and later signed by UP Warriorz for ₹1.9 crore.

The franchise immediately made her captain, replacing Deepti Sharma. Lanning brought fresh energy and tactical experience to the side. She also worked closely with young Indian players and helped improve the team environment.

    Uncapped Indian players become stars

One of the biggest reasons behind the success of WPL 2026 has been the rise of uncapped Indian players.

Nandani Sharma became the Emerging Player of the Season after strong all round performances for Delhi Capitals. Young stars like Vaishnavi Sharma, Deeya Yadav, and Gautami Naik also impressed fans and experts with their fearless cricket.

The WPL points table remained highly competitive throughout the season, showing how balanced the tournament has become.

Why WPL is now a global powerhouse

The WPL has now become a major platform for women’s cricket worldwide. The league attracts international superstars, huge sponsorship deals, and massive fan support.

With the ICC now giving the WPL a separate window in the cricket calendar, the tournament is expected to grow even bigger in the coming years.

From star players to young Indian talent, WPL 2026 proved that women’s cricket is entering a new golden era.
