Norway Women claimed a dramatic two-run victory over Romania Women via the DLS method in a thrilling Group B match of the Women’s Continental Cup 2026 in Ilfov County.

Despite an outstanding unbeaten 90 from Romania captain Rebecca Blake, Norway successfully chased a revised target of 128 in 17 overs, finishing on 129/4 to seal a narrow win.

    Blake Anchors Romania Innings

Romania made an excellent start through Maya Kearvell and skipper Rebecca Blake, who shared a 56-run opening partnership.

Kearvell scored 29 from 28 balls before Mirab Razwan provided Norway with the breakthrough. Blake continued to dominate, producing a superb unbeaten 90 from 61 deliveries, striking 10 fours.

She added 56 runs for the second wicket with Nifroshi Kuruppu, who contributed 19, before sharing an unbeaten stand with Iuliana Muntean to guide Romania to 157/2 in 20 overs.

Mirab Razwan and Ramya Immadi claimed one wicket each for Norway.

Norway Hold Their Nerve in Chase

With rain reducing the target to 128 from 17 overs, Norway began positively through Anushka Gorad and Bijeyata Kumari, who added 48 for the opening wicket.

Gorad made 20 before Daria Tanase broke the partnership, while Maria Ababi dismissed Ayesha Hasan soon after.

Bijeyata Kumari anchored the innings with 28 from 40 balls, and Ramya Immadi provided crucial momentum, scoring 24 from 19 deliveries before becoming Romania’s fourth wicket.

Shangeerthana Raveendrakumar remained unbeaten on 12, while Nayab Razwan finished 5 not out, steering Norway to 129/4 and victory by just two runs under the DLS method.

    Extras Prove Costly

Romania’s bowlers shared the wickets, with Daria Tanase, Maria Ababi, Maya Kearvell and Cristina Cirlig taking one each.

However, 39 extras conceded during the chase proved decisive in such a closely fought contest.

Although Rebecca Blake’s unbeaten 90 was the standout individual performance of the match, Norway’s disciplined chase and ability to capitalize on Romania’s extras secured an important two-run victory.
