April 2026 presents a packed schedule in women’s cricket, combining high-stakes bilateral series, youth competitions, and regional tournaments. From the New Zealand vs South Africa ODI decider to India’s upcoming T20I series in South Africa, the month offers a wide range of action across formats and levels.

New Zealand vs South Africa: ODI Series on the Line

New Zealand, led by Amelia Kerr, hosted South Africa under Laura Wolvaardt for a multi-format series running from March 15 to April 4. The hosts secured the T20I leg 4-1, but the ODI series has been closely contested.

South Africa took the opening ODI by two wickets, before New Zealand responded with a two-wicket win in the second match on April 1. The deciding third ODI will be played at Basin Reserve in Wellington on April 4, with both sides aiming to close the series on a high.

    Australia Dominate West Indies

Australia, captained by Sophie Molineux, completed a strong tour of the West Indies, winning the T20I series 3-0. They followed it up by sealing the ODI series with a 90-run victory in the second match on March 29.

The third ODI at Warner Park in Basseterre on April 2 serves as the final match of the series, with Australia aiming to maintain their winning run.

    Youth Competitions Take Centre Stage

The Hong Kong Under-19 Women’s T20 Challenge, featuring Thailand Under-19, runs from April 1 to 6. Thailand U19 made a strong start with an eight-wicket win in the opening match.

Meanwhile, the Women’s Under-19 Tri-series in Australia (April 7–18) will feature Australia, Sri Lanka, and England. The series includes two One-Day matches followed by four T20s, providing valuable experience for emerging players.

    Regional Tournaments Expand Opportunities

Greece Women’s tour of Cyprus from April 3 to 5 features a six-match T20I series at Happy Valley Ground in Episkopi, marking a key step for European women’s cricket.

In Africa, the Kalahari Women’s T20I Tournament will take place in Botswana from April 6 to 11, featuring Sierra Leone, Brazil, Lesotho, Malawi, Botswana, Zambia, and Mozambique in a round-robin format.

The Easter Women’s T20 Cup will also be held from April 9 to 15 in Entebbe, Uganda, with Uganda, Uganda A, USA, and Nepal competing.

India vs South Africa T20I Series Ahead

India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, will tour South Africa from April 17 to 27 for a five-match T20I series against Wolvaardt’s side. The series follows South Africa’s competitive outings against New Zealand and offers another key contest between two strong teams.

Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh White-Ball Series

Sri Lanka, captained by Chamari Athapaththu, will travel to Bangladesh from April 20 to May 2 for a white-ball series consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is. Bangladesh, led by Nigar Sultana Joty, will look to challenge Sri Lanka across both formats.

With multiple international series and tournaments scheduled, April 2026 stands out as a significant month for women’s cricket, offering opportunities for both established teams and emerging players.
