The expanded 12-team format of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 gave young cricketers the perfect platform to showcase their talent. Several rising stars grabbed the opportunity with outstanding performances, proving they are ready to become the future faces of international cricket.

Here are the best young players Women’s T20 World Cup fans should remember after an exciting tournament in England and Wales.

    1. Shree Charani (India) – 20 Years

India may have exited the tournament earlier than expected, but Shree Charani emerged as one of the biggest success stories.

The left-arm spinner finished as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 14 wickets in just five matches. Her best performance came against the Netherlands, where she claimed four wickets for 19 runs with outstanding control and variation.

Her consistent displays also earned her a place in the ICC Team of the Tournament, making her one of the biggest breakout stars women’s T20 World Cup produced.

    2. Phoebe Litchfield (Australia) – 23 Years

Phoebe Litchfield confirmed her status as one of the young players to watch in women’s cricket after playing a major role in Australia’s title-winning campaign.

The left-handed batter showed remarkable maturity in pressure situations throughout the competition. Her finest innings came in the final against England, where she scored a fearless 48 from 32 balls.

Litchfield also shared a match-winning 100-run partnership with Beth Mooney as Australia completed the highest successful chase in a Women’s T20 World Cup final.

    3. Darcey Carter (Scotland) – 21 Years

Scotland’s first appearance at a senior Women’s T20 World Cup became even more memorable thanks to Darcey Carter.

The talented all-rounder played a vital role in Scotland’s historic first World Cup victory and impressed with both bat and ball against stronger teams.

Her performances were rewarded with selection as the 12th player in the ICC Team of the Tournament, making her the first Scottish player to receive that recognition at a senior ICC event.

    4. Freya Kemp (England) – 21 Years

Freya Kemp added power and energy to England’s batting lineup throughout the tournament.

Batting in the middle and lower order, the all-rounder consistently accelerated the scoring rate with fearless stroke play. She maintained an impressive strike rate of around 165 and regularly cleared the boundary during England’s run to the final.

Her powerful hitting made her one of the best young players Women’s T20 World Cup had on display.

    5. Zaida James (West Indies) – 21 Years

Although West Indies could not make a deep run in the tournament, Zaida James showed she has a bright future ahead.

The left arm-spinner and useful batter finished with seven wickets while maintaining an excellent economy rate of 5.80. One of her standout performances came against New Zealand, where she produced a brilliant spell that almost guided West Indies to a memorable victory.

Her ability to contribute in multiple areas makes her one of the young players to watch women’s cricket over the coming years.

    The Future Looks Bright

The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 highlighted the exciting future of the game. These five cricketers not only delivered impressive performances but also showed the confidence and skill needed to succeed at the highest level.

From Shree Charani’s wicket-taking brilliance to Phoebe Litchfield’s match-winning batting and Darcey Carter’s historic breakthrough, these breakout stars in Women’s T20 World Cup demonstrated that the next generation is ready to take women’s cricket to even greater heights.
