The England vs Australia Women T20 World Cup final delivered a fitting conclusion to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. In front of a record crowd of more than 28,000 spectators at Lord’s, Australia Women once again proved why they are the dominant force in world cricket, defeating hosts England Women by seven wickets.

The victory secured Australia’s seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title and their 14th global ICC trophy, further strengthening their remarkable legacy. This England vs Australia Women final review looks back at the biggest moments, standout performances, and the match that crowned the champions.

    England Post a Fighting Total

England Women batted first and produced a competitive score of 150 for 4 in 20 overs. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt led from the front with a composed 58 off 53 balls, holding the innings together against Australia’s disciplined bowling attack.

Freya Kemp provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 44 from 28 deliveries, helping England accelerate during the closing overs. Her late boundaries ensured the hosts crossed the 150-run mark, giving their bowlers something to defend in the final.

Australia’s bowlers remained disciplined throughout the innings. Kim Garth was particularly economical, finishing with figures of 1 for 20 in four overs while keeping the scoring rate under control.

Although England had a respectable total on the board, they knew they would need early wickets against Australia’s powerful batting lineup.

Beth Mooney Delivers Another Final Masterclass

The Women’s T20 World Cup final highlights were dominated by Beth Mooney, who once again produced a memorable innings on the biggest stage. The experienced opener played with great control and confidence, scoring 64 off 49 balls while striking ten boundaries.

Mooney handled England’s spin attack brilliantly, rotating the strike consistently and punishing loose deliveries. Her calm approach ensured Australia never lost control of the chase despite the pressure of a World Cup final.

Her outstanding performance earned her both the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament awards, underlining another exceptional campaign.

    Litchfield Provides Perfect Support

While Mooney anchored the innings, Phoebe Litchfield played the ideal supporting role with a fluent 48 off 35 balls. The left hander kept the scoreboard moving and built an important partnership that gradually took the game away from England.

England spinner Sophie Ecclestone claimed 1 for 24, but Australia’s batters rarely allowed the hosts to build sustained pressure.

Australia eventually reached 153 for 3 in just 17.1 overs, completing the highest successful run chase ever recorded in a Women’s T20 World Cup final. They finished the match with 17 balls remaining, highlighting just how dominant their batting performance was.

    Match Summary
