Australia Dominate the Team
It is no surprise that the champions had the strongest representation in the Women’s T20 World Cup Team of the tournament.
Australia had four players in the starting XI, with Sophie Molineux leading the side after guiding her team through an unbeaten campaign. The left-arm spinner also claimed 11 wickets during the tournament.
Ashleigh Gardner’s ability to contribute with both bat and ball further strengthened Australia’s dominance in the selection.
Shree Charani Earns India’s Sole Spot
Although India failed to progress beyond the group stage, Shree Charani’s performances could not be ignored.
The left-arm spinner finished as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets in just five matches. Her impressive campaign included a memorable four-wicket haul against the Netherlands, making her the only Indian player selected in the team of the tournament 2026.
Emerging Stars Receive Recognition
The World Cup also highlighted the rise of emerging cricket nations.
Ireland’s Orla Prendergast secured a place after contributing 181 runs and six wickets, while Pakistan’s Fatima Sana impressed with 11 wickets and useful lower order runs.
Scotland’s Darcey Carter was named as the 12th player, becoming the first Scottish cricketer to feature in an official ICC senior global tournament XI.
