Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong and Indonesia have secured qualification for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 after winning their respective quarterfinal matches at the ACC Women’s Premier Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

All four teams entered the knockout stage as group winners and continued their impressive form to seal places in Asia’s premier women’s cricket tournament. They will now join established cricketing nations such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Women’s T20 Asia Cup later this year.

    Thailand Continue Dominant Run

Thailand extended their unbeaten campaign with a comfortable 56-run victory over Nepal.

After being sent in to bat, Thailand posted 130/4, thanks largely to a superb innings from wicketkeeper-batter Nannapat Koncharoenkai, who anchored the innings with 62 runs. Nepal’s bowlers struggled to contain the experienced opener as Thailand built a competitive total.

The Thai bowling attack then took complete control, restricting Nepal to 74/7 and securing another convincing victory.

The result continued Thailand’s outstanding tournament run. They finished top of Group A with four wins from four matches and one of the best net run rates in the competition, underlining their reputation as one of the strongest associate women’s teams in Asia.

    UAE Maintain Perfect Record

The United Arab Emirates also remained unbeaten after defeating hosts Malaysia by 52 runs.

Opening batter Theertha Satish once again starred with the bat, producing an unbeaten 65 to guide UAE to 138/2. Her innings provided the foundation for another commanding performance from the tournament favourites.

Malaysia never managed to challenge the target and closed on 86/5, leaving UAE with another comfortable victory.

The win preserved UAE’s flawless record and reinforced their status as one of the leading contenders for the Premier Cup title.

Hong Kong Too Strong for Japan

Hong Kong booked their place in the Asia Cup with a convincing 41-run win over Japan.

Yasmin Daswani led the batting effort with an unbeaten 55 from just 36 deliveries, helping Hong Kong post a competitive score. Her aggressive innings ensured Japan faced a difficult chase from the outset.

The bowlers then completed the job in style. Maryam Bibi claimed 3/17 while Marina Lamplough added 2/11 as Japan were kept under pressure throughout their innings.

Having already topped their group with three victories, Hong Kong continued their unbeaten run and secured qualification with another disciplined all-round performance.

Indonesia Produce Biggest Win of the Day

Indonesia delivered the most dominant performance of the quarterfinals, crushing Oman by 113 runs.

Captain Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini led from the front with a vital 51 as Indonesia posted 137/7. The total proved far beyond Oman’s reach.

Indonesia’s bowlers then produced a devastating display, dismissing Oman for just 24 in 11.5 overs. Ni Made Putri Suwandewi starred with the ball, taking 4/11 as the Indonesian attack overwhelmed their opponents.

The emphatic victory highlighted Indonesia’s rapid development in women’s cricket and confirmed their place among Asia’s rising teams.

    Semi-Finals Await

With qualification secured, attention now turns to the semi-finals of the ACC Women’s Premier Cup.

Thailand will face Indonesia, while Hong Kong take on the UAE in two intriguing contests for a place in the final.

Regardless of the semi-final results, all four teams can now look forward to competing at the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026, where they will have the opportunity to challenge some of the continent’s strongest cricketing nations and continue their development on a bigger stage.
