Members of the India Women’s Blind Cricket Team, including captain Deepika TC, Kavya V and Kavya NR, have been recognised with the Karnataka Sumana Sadhaka Award by SumanTV Kannada.

The honour acknowledges their contributions to the sport and highlights their achievements at the national level.

    Recognition Beyond Mainstream Cricket

While mainstream cricket often dominates attention, the achievements of India’s blind cricket players continue to gain recognition. For Deepika and her teammates, representing the country goes beyond sport, reflecting their journey and commitment to competing at the highest level.

Their performances, built on skill and coordination, underline the demands of the format, where players rely on sound and timing in place of visual cues.

    Leadership and Team Impact

Captain Deepika TC has played a key role in guiding the side, leading from the front in matches. Kavya V and Kavya NR have also been consistent contributors, known for their performances and impact within the team.

Together, they form part of a core group that has helped strengthen India’s presence in women’s blind cricket.

    Significance of the Award

The Karnataka Sumana Sadhaka Award represents recognition at a regional level for national achievements. By honouring these players, SumanTV Kannada has brought attention to blind cricket and its growing presence in the sporting landscape.

The award also reflects increasing awareness of para-sports and the contributions of athletes competing in these formats.

    Looking Ahead

While recognition continues to grow, the development of blind cricket still requires further support in terms of infrastructure and opportunities. Awards such as this contribute to raising visibility and encouraging greater engagement with the sport.

For Deepika TC, Kavya V and Kavya NR, the recognition marks another milestone in their journey, as they continue to represent India and contribute to the growth of women’s blind cricket.
