Charis Pavely continued her remarkable form with a second century in four days, powering Warwickshire Women to a 34-run win over Somerset in the ECB Women’s One-Day Cup 2026 at Edgbaston.
Warwickshire posted 336 after being put in, before restricting Somerset to 302 in reply. Pavely’s outstanding 127 off 103 balls proved decisive, building on her recent unbeaten 128 against The Blaze.
Pavely Anchors Dramatic Recovery
Warwickshire made a steady start, reaching 40 before Chloe Skelton struck twice to disrupt the innings. Amu Surenkumar was caught at mid-wicket, while Meg Austin fell lbw attempting a sweep.
Alex Griffiths then removed both Katie George and Davina Perrin in quick succession, with Perrin contributing a fluent 45 off 40 balls. When Skelton dismissed Chloe Brewer, Warwickshire slipped to 113 for 5.
From there, Pavely led a three-phase recovery. She added 44 runs with Nat Wraith and followed it up with a 58-run stand alongside Mary Taylor, who made 30. The defining moment came with an explosive 93-run eighth-wicket partnership in just 63 balls with Alexa Stonehouse.
Pavely struck 16 fours and two sixes in her innings before being stumped by Katie Jones, giving Skelton her fourth wicket. Stonehouse remained unbeaten on 58, helping Warwickshire reach a commanding 336.
Somerset Fall Short in Chase
Somerset’s reply began poorly as both openers were dismissed inside seven overs. Ruby Davies was caught off Stonehouse, while Bex Odgers was bowled by Taylor.
Warwickshire captain Georgia Davis added another breakthrough, having Anika Learoyd stumped shortly after.
A rebuilding effort came through Niamh Holland and Jess Hazell, who added 78 runs, with Holland scoring 65 and Hazell contributing 45. However, Pavely capped off her all-round display by removing both batters lbw within a short span.
Katie Jones briefly counterattacked with a six off Stonehouse but fell soon after, leaving Somerset needing 98 from the final ten overs — a target they could not reach.
All-Round Impact Seals Win
Pavely’s performance extended beyond her century, as she also picked up 2 for 40 with the ball. Stonehouse contributed with both bat and ball, taking 3 for 70.
Despite Skelton’s 4 for 65 and Olivia Barnes’ 3 for 47, Somerset were unable to capitalise after reducing Warwickshire to 113 for 5. The result leaves Somerset with consecutive defeats after a promising start to their campaign.
