The countdown to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has officially begun, and fans around the world are already debating, as the biggest question of the tournament is: who will win Women’s T20 World Cup?

This year’s competition promises to be one of the most exciting editions ever. The tournament will feature 12 teams for the first time and will be played across England and Wales from June 12 to July 5. With historic venues, strong squads, and several teams entering in top form, the race for the trophy looks completely open.

Still, a few sides clearly stand out among the Women’s T20 World Cup favourites 2026.

Australia Remain the Team Everyone Fears

Australia Women’s national cricket team continue to enter major tournaments as the strongest side in world cricket. Even though the team is entering a new phase under captain Sophie Molineux, Australia still have unmatched experience and depth.

The squad includes world class players like Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, and Ash Gardner. These players have performed in pressure matches for many years and understand how to win global tournaments.

Australia’s balance is also a major reason why many experts still call them the strongest women’s cricket team 2026. They have powerful batters, quality spin options, fast bowlers, and strong fielding standards.

Even during transition periods, Australia continue to remain dangerous.

    England Have Home Advantage

England Women’s national cricket team are another strong contender for the trophy. Playing at home could become a huge advantage for them during the tournament.

England know the conditions well, especially at venues like Lord’s, The Oval, and Edgbaston. Their players are comfortable with English weather and pitches, which may help them during difficult matches.

The team also has strong batting depth and experienced bowlers who can perform under pressure. Since the final will be played at Lord’s, England will dream of lifting the trophy in front of their home fans.

    South Africa Continue Their Rise

South Africa Women’s national cricket team are quickly becoming one of the most dangerous teams in women’s cricket.

Their recent performances have shown huge improvement in both batting and bowling. South Africa now look more confident in knockout matches and are no longer seen as outsiders.

The team has explosive batters, disciplined bowlers, and strong athletic fielders. Their match against Australia in the group stage could become one of the biggest games of the tournament.

    India Can Never Be Ignored

India Women’s national cricket team also remain one of the best women’s cricket squads in 2026. India have talented batters, improving pace bowling, and match winners who can change games quickly.

The India vs Pakistan clash at Edgbaston is already one of the most anticipated matches of the group stage.

However, India’s biggest challenge will be consistency in pressure moments. If they handle key situations calmly, they can definitely reach the final.

New Zealand and the Dark Horses

Defending champions New Zealand Women’s national cricket team cannot be underestimated either. Tournament experience often matters a lot in ICC events.

Teams like West Indies Women’s national cricket team and Sri Lanka Women’s national cricket team could also surprise stronger sides on their day.

Meanwhile, debut teams like Netherlands Women’s national cricket team and Scotland women’s national cricket team add fresh excitement and unpredictability to the tournament.

Who Looks the Strongest Right Now?

At the moment, Australia still look like the most complete side heading into the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Their experience, squad depth, and winning mentality keep them slightly ahead of the rest.

But with England playing at home and South Africa entering in strong form, this could easily become one of the closest Women’s T20 World Cups in recent history.
