Uganda Women produced a composed all-round effort to defeat Uganda A Women by 37 runs in the Easter Women’s T20 Cup 2026, with the contest shaped by key partnerships, timely wickets, and a disciplined bowling performance.

    Uganda Women Build Competitive Total

Uganda Women had a slow start after opting to bat, with Janet Mbabazi unable to settle early. She scored 6 off 8 balls before being dismissed by Irene Alumo, leaving the score at 21/1 in 3.1 overs. The situation worsened shortly after when Kevin Awino fell for just 1 in the following over, again to Alumo, as the score slipped to 21/2 in 3.2 overs.

Facing early pressure, Stephanie Nampiina countered with an aggressive approach. She struck 34 off 24 deliveries, including five boundaries, to shift the momentum. Alongside Immaculate Nakisuuyi, who contributed a steady 31 from 40 balls, the pair added 31 runs to stabilise the innings. Nampiina’s stay ended when she was trapped lbw by Lorna Anyait at 52/3 in 7.6 overs.

Nakisuuyi continued to anchor the innings and formed another important stand with Rita Musamali. Their 34-run partnership took Uganda Women to 86/4 in 14.4 overs before Nakisuuyi was dismissed, caught and bowled by Anyait. Musamali added 29 from 32 balls but was dismissed at 105/5 in 18.6 overs, caught by Immaculate off Asumin Akurut.

Late contributions from Proscovia Alako (9* off 12) and Esther Iloku (6* off 3) ensured Uganda Women finished at 115/5 in their 20 overs.

Bowling Highlights – Uganda A Women

    • Lorna Anyait: 2/13 (4 overs)
    • Irene Alumo: 2 wickets
    • Asumin Akurut: 1/22
    • Tino Sarah: 0/16 (4 overs)

Uganda A Women Struggle in Chase

Chasing 116, Uganda A Women never gained control of the innings. Early setbacks saw Jimia Abdallah Muhammed run out for 2, followed by Girigish Shadia Nabulime’s dismissal for 4, leaving them at 6/2. Asumin Akurut then fell for a duck, reducing the side to 10/3.

Immaculate Nandera offered some resistance with a determined 26 off 29 balls, including a four and a six. She attempted to rebuild alongside Phiona Egaru Kulume, but Kulume managed only 4 runs. Nandera’s dismissal, stumped off Stephanie Nampiina at 41/4, further dented the chase.

Lorna Anyait (7 off 11) and Ilora Joan (8 off 19) tried to steady things, but regular wickets and run-outs halted any recovery. The lower order failed to contribute significantly, with Irene Alumo (4), Malemikia Patricia (6), and Ariago Michelle (0) departing in quick succession.

Tino Sarah remained unbeaten on 3, but Uganda A Women were eventually bowled out for 78 in 18.4 overs, falling short by 37 runs.

    Clinical Bowling Seals Victory

Uganda Women’s bowling unit executed their plans effectively throughout the innings. Naume Jane Amongin led the attack with impressive figures of 3/12 in 3.4 overs. Kevin Amuge and Sheila Namagoba supported well with two wickets each, while Stephanie Nampiina chipped in with one scalp.

The fielding unit complemented the bowling effort with sharp run-outs and a key stumping, ensuring Uganda Women secured a comfortable victory.
