Kirstie Gordon has been named in Scotland’s squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England, marking a significant return to international cricket for the 28-year-old left-arm spinner.
Cricket Scotland confirmed a 15-player squad on Monday, to be led by captain Kathryn Bryce, with Gordon set to make her maiden appearance for Scotland at a global tournament. She previously represented England in five T20Is and one Test, with her last international outing coming in 2019. Her most recent appearance for Scotland dates back to the 2017 NatWest T20 Cup.
Gordon’s selection comes on the back of consistent domestic performances. She picked up 11 wickets in eight matches for Trent Rockets in The Hundred last season at an economy rate of 7.71, and followed that up with eight wickets in five One-Day Cup matches for The Blaze in April 2026.
Head coach Craig Wallace welcomed her inclusion, saying, “We have multiple world-class players in this team, and Kirstie is definitely one of them. We welcome her involvement in the group and expect her to drive our standards up even more and help us to improve Scottish cricket. I’m looking forward to working with her and helping her enhance her own skills as well.”
The squad also features fresh faces, including uncapped pacer Maisie Maceira, alongside her 2025 Under-19 teammates Gabriella Fontenla and wicketkeeper-batter Pippa Sproul.
Among those included are Sarah Bryce, Abtaha Maqsood and Rachel Slater, highlighting a blend of experience and emerging talent within the squad.
Meanwhile, players such as Hannah Rainey, Niamh Robertson-Jack and Mollie Annie Parker have been left out of the group that previously finished third in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers.
“It was hugely difficult to select a fifteen, but that’s a testament to the growth and success of the women’s game in Scotland over the last few years,” Wallace added. “The depth we have now to choose from is incredible and every selection is enjoyable, but really tough. I think we’ve got a really good balance in the squad in terms of what we think we need to succeed in this tournament.”
As part of their preparations for the World Cup, Scotland will host a tri-series in Edinburgh featuring Bangladesh and the Netherlands. Robertson-Jack and Ellen Watson are expected to feature in that preparatory series.
