Uganda Women produced a dominant all-round display to defeat Uganda A Women by 51 runs in the Easter Women’s T20 Cup 2026, with Sarah Akiteng’s remarkable hat-trick headlining a clinical bowling performance.
Batting first, Uganda Women were guided by captain Janet Mbabazi, who anchored the innings with a composed 42 off 37 balls, striking five boundaries. The innings began steadily, though Stephanie Nampina was dismissed early for 4 off 4 balls by Sarah Walaza.
Kevin Awino added a quick 6 off 8 deliveries before being run out, halting early momentum. Uganda Women then struggled to build sustained partnerships, with Immaculate Nakisuuyi scoring 3 and Rita Musamali contributing 9 off 12 balls.
A stabilising phase followed through Mbabazi and Esther Iloku, who added important runs in the middle overs. Iloku remained unbeaten on 20 off 26 balls, holding the innings together as wickets continued to fall. Contributions from Malisa Ariokot (8) and others helped Uganda Women reach 100 all out in 19.2 overs, with 4 extras added.
Uganda A Women’s bowling effort was led by Lorna Anyait, who returned figures of 3 for 16 in her 4 overs. Tino Sarah (1 for 15) and Asumin Akurut (1 for 9) supported well, while Sarah Walaza bowled economically, finishing with 1 wicket for 9 runs in 3.2 overs. Ariago Michelle also picked up a wicket.
In response, Uganda A Women struggled from the outset. Giringish Shadia Nabulime was run out for a duck, and Jimia Abdallah Muhammad managed 8 off 15 balls as the chase failed to gain momentum.
Asumin Akurut and Phiona Egaru Kulume both scored 12, forming a brief partnership, but neither could accelerate. The middle order then collapsed, with Mary Namiriro and Lorna Anyait dismissed cheaply.
Akiteng delivered the decisive spell, claiming 5 wickets for just 6 runs in 3 overs, including a hat-trick that effectively ended the contest. Malisa Ariokot provided strong support with figures of 2 for 4 in 2.3 overs, while Mutonyi Irene added 1 for 8.
Uganda A Women were bowled out for 49 in 13.3 overs, with only minor contributions from Sarah Walaza (8) and others. Uganda Women’s all-round performance ensured a win, highlighted by Akiteng’s match-defining spell.
