Lesotho Women produced a disciplined all-round display to defeat Zambia Women by 48 runs in Match 21 of the Kalahari Women’s T20I Tournament 2026, securing their place in the Plate Final with a composed and clinical performance.

    Early setbacks and crucial recovery

Lesotho’s innings began under pressure as early wickets left them struggling at 3/13 inside the powerplay. Kananello Molapo, Paballo Pheko, and Boitumelo Tlali all fell cheaply as Zambia’s bowlers struck early.

However, a vital rebuilding effort came through Tshepang Khabo and captain Maneo Nyabela. The pair added 46 runs for the fourth wicket, stabilising the innings after the early collapse.

Khabo anchored the innings with a steady 31 off 40 balls, while Nyabela contributed 18 off 36 deliveries, ensuring Lesotho regained control.

Late efforts push Lesotho to 96

Despite losing wickets in the closing stages, Lesotho managed to reach 96/7 in their 20 overs. Contributions from the lower order, along with 27 extras, proved crucial in taking the total to a competitive level.

Zambia’s bowling effort was well shared, with Nancy Chabula (2/15) and Mwake Kachingo (2/20) leading the attack, supported by disciplined spells from Patience Chabuta and Rithika Sriram.

    Lesotho bowlers dominate the chase

Defending 97, Lesotho’s bowlers delivered a near-perfect performance, never allowing Zambia to build momentum.

Filo Chenda top-scored with 14, but her slow innings reflected the pressure applied by Lesotho’s attack. Zambia struggled to rotate strike or find boundaries, with the required rate climbing steadily.

Captain Maneo Nyabela led from the front with an excellent spell of 2/8 in 4 overs, controlling the game in the middle overs and breaking key partnerships.

She received strong support from Lindliwe Polaki (1/12), Retsepile Limema, and Boitumelo Tlali, who bowled economically and maintained relentless pressure.

    Zambia fall well short

Zambia’s innings never gained momentum, eventually finishing at 48/3 in their 20 overs. The lack of partnerships and inability to accelerate proved decisive in the outcome.

Lesotho’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding ensured there was no way back for their opponents.

    Plate Final secured

This convincing victory highlights Lesotho Women’s resilience and ability to bounce back after early setbacks. Their balanced performance with both bat and ball makes them strong contenders heading into the Plate Final.
