Ticket demand for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales has already reached record levels, with sales passing 145,000 and moving closer to the 150,000 mark just 30 days before the opening match. The 12-team tournament will run from June 12 to July 5 across seven venues and has already gone beyond the 136,549 total attendance recorded at the 2020 edition in Australia.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has become the highest-selling edition in the tournament’s history before a ball has been bowled, highlighting the continued rise of women’s cricket and its growing global appeal.
The 10th edition of the competition expands from the 10-team format used in 2024, with the teams divided into two groups of six. Group 1 includes Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, India and Pakistan. Group 2 features hosts England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland, the West Indies and Scotland.
New Zealand arrive as defending champions after winning their maiden T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in Dubai. England, captained by Nat Sciver-Brunt, will begin the tournament against Chamari Athapaththu’s Sri Lanka at Edgbaston in Birmingham on June 12 from 11 PM IST.
The sales milestone is another significant moment in the ICC’s wider efforts to drive the growth of women’s cricket. It also reflects the increasing interest and support from fans in the United Kingdom and around the world.
“The 2026 edition becoming the highest-selling ICC Women’s T20 World Cup ever is another milestone for the women’s game,” said ICC General Manager – Events and Corporate Communications, Gaurav Saxena. “It not only highlights the incredible momentum behind women’s cricket but also reflects the strong cultural pull of an ICC pinnacle event. This edition is set to be our biggest tournament to date and is expected to smash attendance and viewership records in the UK and around the world.”
Warm-up matches will be played from June 6 to 10 at Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens, Derby County Ground and Loughborough University, the home of the ECB’s National Cricket Performance Centre. Fixtures will be staged at 10h00 and 15h00 local time as teams complete their preparations before the main tournament.
Supporters will also be able to engage with the tournament through Spirit Week’s Trophy Tour, presented by DP World, which will include city takeovers. Cricket 4 Good clinics with UNICEF will also be held, giving young players the chance to receive training and playing tips from stars involved in the tournament.
Tournament Director Beth Barrett-Wild said the ticket sales figure showed the level of anticipation around the event.
“Surpassing 145,000 ticket sales is an incredible milestone. To have exceeded the previous record set in Australia, before a ball has been bowled, shows just how much excitement there is for this tournament and for women’s cricket globally. We’ve always believed this tournament has the potential to be the biggest women’s cricket event in history.”
The ICC and its charity partner will again stage “Cricket 4 Good” clinics in local communities, where young cricketers will receive skills training and advice from players representing the participating teams.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will bring together the top 12 teams across seven venues, following the warm-up schedule from June 6 to 10 at Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens, Derby County Ground and Loughborough University.
