Hollie Armitage has been appointed captain of MI London Women, reuniting with head coach Lisa Keightley ahead of the upcoming edition of The Hundred.
The leadership pairing recreates the successful partnership that guided Northern Superchargers to the 2025 title, with Keightley keen to replicate that formula in London following the franchise transition from Oval Invincibles.
Reunion of a title-winning partnership
Keightley, who moved to the capital after the Ambani-backed takeover of the franchise, identified Armitage as a key leadership figure during the March auction. The move signals a clear intent to build continuity and proven success into the squad structure.
“The role of captain in a short-form game is crucial,” Keightley noted, highlighting Armitage’s tactical awareness and composure under pressure as defining qualities.
Leadership experience and domestic pedigree
Armitage brings significant captaincy experience, having led Northern Superchargers from 2022 through 2025. She previously took over the role from Lauren Winfield-Hill, whom she now replaces again at MI London after Winfield-Hill’s move to Sunrisers Leeds.
Having come through the ranks at Yorkshire Women and currently representing Durham Women, Armitage also adds international experience, with six caps for England Women.
“A huge honour” for Armitage
Reacting to the appointment, Armitage described the opportunity as a defining moment in her career.
“Being named MI London’s women’s captain is a huge honour as we start an exciting new chapter,” she said, adding that working again with Keightley provides a strong platform to aim for silverware.
Focus shifts to squad completion
MI London will continue to monitor domestic performances, particularly in the Vitality Blast, before finalising their squad ahead of the tournament in July.
With matches set to be played at Kia Oval, the new leadership group will look to harness both experience and emerging talent as they target immediate success in their debut season under the new identity.
