Trent Rockets Women created history at Lord’s as they won their Women’s Hundred champions title with an eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Leeds Women. The Rockets produced an outstanding all-round performance, bowling Sunrisers out for just 91 before completing the chase in only 54 balls. Georgia Adams was at the heart of the victory and was named Player of the Match after delivering a superb performance with the ball and in the field.
The result of the final brings answers to important questions surrounding the franchise. Was it the first Women’s Hundred title for Rockets? Yes, it was their first-ever Women’s Hundred championship and Hundred Helix trophy while Trent Rockets Men have secured their first men’s Hundred title previously in 2022.
In the 2026 final, Trent Rockets Men missed out on their second title, losing to Manchester Super Giants who claimed their maiden men’s Hundred title this season. However, men’s and women’s Trent Rockets teams finished at the top of their league tables and thus secured the Helix title before the final group stages even concluded.
Rockets Extend Win Record at Lord’s
Another interesting fact is that Trent Rockets have never lost a Women’s Hundred match at the iconic venue.
Trent Rockets’ record at Lord’s:
- 2021 – Won by 18 runs vs London Spirit
- 2023 – Won by five wickets vs London Spirit
- 2025 – Won by 33 runs vs London Spirit
- 2026 – Won by eight wickets vs Sunrisers Leeds
Their historic win in the 2026 final also completed a seven-match winning streak, with six consecutive victories followed by success in the final.
Adams Leads Rockets’ Bowling Attack
Adams produced a match-winning performance in her fifth Hundred final. She bowled 15 balls and conceded only nine runs while taking two wickets.
Her most important dismissal was that of Annabel Sutherland, who had been Sunrisers’ leading batter during the tournament and Player of the Series. Sutherland was dismissed for 25 off 23 balls, ending an important partnership and putting further pressure on the defending champions.
Adams also made a major contribution in the field. She took a diving catch at short fine leg to dismiss Phoebe Litchfield before producing a direct hit to complete a run out later in the innings.
Her bowling was equally impressive. She maintained tight lines and used changes in flight to prevent Sunrisers from building momentum.
Sunrisers Collapse for 91
The defending champions struggled from the beginning after Rockets captain Ashleigh Gardner won the toss and decided to bowl. Sunrisers were reduced to 24/3 inside just 19 balls as Kim Garth and Adams immediately put the batting side under pressure. Sutherland scored 25 while Dani Gibson contributed 22 from 16 balls, but neither could take Sunrisers to a competitive total.
Rockets’ bowling attack worked together brilliantly. Adams and Charley Phillips took two wickets each, while Samantha Bates and Garth also claimed two apiece.
Sunrisers were eventually bowled out for 91 from 91 balls.
Dunkley and Mooney Finish the Job
The chase was almost completely one sided. Sophia Dunkley came out attacking and smashed 41 from just 23 balls. She combined with Beth Mooney, who remained unbeaten on 31 from 21 balls, to produce a 69 run opening partnership. Their aggressive batting ensured that the Rockets had complete control of the chase.
The pair took advantage of the powerplay and removed any possibility of a Sunrisers comeback. Gardner eventually hit the winning boundary through the off side as Trent Rockets reached 92/2 in only 54 balls.
The Rockets therefore won with 46 balls remaining, making it the quickest successful chase in a Hundred final.
Did Adams Excel as Rockets Surge to Maiden Women’s Hundred Title?
There is little doubt that Adams excelled. Her figures of 2/9, along with one catch and one run out, made her the standout performer of the final.
The victory also completed an excellent campaign for Trent Rockets. They won seven consecutive matches and finished with eight victories from nine games.
Was it the first Women’s Hundred title for Rockets? Absolutely. The triumph marked a historic first championship for the women’s side. But the franchise also had more reason to celebrate, as Trent Rockets secured the inaugural Helix Trophy for the highest combined franchise points across the men’s and women’s competitions.
The Rockets beat Sunrisers in emphatic fashion, and Adams’ brilliance ensured that their historic title triumph will be remembered as one of the most dominant finals in Women’s Hundred history.
