Cricket Australia has unveiled its squad for the upcoming Under-19 Women’s Tri-Series, where Australia will host England and Sri Lanka in a multi-format tournament scheduled across Brisbane and the Gold Coast in April.

The competition will feature a combination of 50-over and T20 matches, offering a structured environment for player development. It is set to provide young cricketers with valuable international exposure against two competitive sides.

A 14-player Australian squad has been selected, with Western Australia’s Tegan Williamson named captain. The group presents a well-rounded composition, combining batting strength, varied bowling options and all-round depth from across the country’s domestic pathways.

    Tournament Schedule and Format

The tri-series will begin with the 50-over matches at Ian Healy Oval. Australia are set to face England on April 6, before taking on Sri Lanka on April 8, with both fixtures starting at 1:30 PM local time.

These opening matches in the longer format will allow teams to establish combinations and focus on building innings, managing workloads, and executing extended game plans. For Australia’s squad, it also provides a platform to carry domestic performances into an international setting.

The tournament will then move into the T20 phase at Bill Pippen Oval. Australia will meet England again on April 11, followed by a clash against Sri Lanka on April 13, with both games scheduled for 1:30 PM starts. The shift in format is expected to bring a more aggressive style of play, with greater emphasis on power hitting, innovation, and sharp fielding.

The final stage of the competition returns to Brisbane, with Ian Healy Oval hosting the remaining fixtures. Australia will play England on April 15 in a day-night match beginning at 4:00 PM, introducing additional challenges such as changing light conditions. The series concludes on April 18 with a morning game against Sri Lanka, starting at 10:00 AM.

    Coaching Support Adds Experience

Off the field, the Australian camp will benefit from an experienced coaching group. Former national captain Meg Lanning will take on a development role, working alongside head coach Kristen Beams and assistant coaches Lisa Keightley and Clive Rose.

Their involvement is expected to support players in adapting to the tactical and mental demands of international cricket, providing guidance during a key phase of their development.

With England and Sri Lanka also fielding competitive youth squads, the tri-series presents an important benchmark. The varied formats, venues, and conditions are set to test players across multiple aspects of the game, making it a significant step in their progression.
