West Indies Women will look to make full use of home conditions in the Caribbean as they prepare to face the top-ranked Australia Women in the upcoming ODI series. The hosts are aiming to challenge the visitors by combining the experience of established stars with the promise of emerging talent.

At the heart of their plans is Stafanie Taylor, whose record of nearly 6,000 ODI runs and 155 wickets underlines her continued influence within the side. Known for her ability to anchor innings and break crucial partnerships with the ball, Taylor remains a key tactical figure for the team. She is supported by young left-arm spinner Qiana Joseph, who recently played an important role in the T20I series with a notable 45 and also posed a threat with the ball. Chinelle Henry, an energetic all-rounder recognised for her powerful batting and medium-fast bowling, completes a trio that could shape West Indies’ prospects if they perform collectively.

    Players to Watch

    Qiana Joseph

Qiana Joseph has featured in 29 ODIs and is viewed as one of the rising prospects in the West Indies setup. While her primary role has been to maintain control with her left-arm spin, she has also contributed 445 runs, including three half-centuries and a highest score of 70. With 13 wickets to her name and best figures of 2 for 24, she is gradually establishing herself as a bowling all-rounder. Her strike rate of around 79 highlights her ability to add stability in the middle order when required, and her growing experience against leading teams such as Australia could prove valuable.

    Stafanie Taylor

A central figure in Caribbean cricket, Stafanie Taylor boasts a remarkable ODI record built across 173 appearances. She has scored more than 6,000 runs at an average of 42.28, registering seven centuries and a highest score of 171. Complementing her batting achievements, Taylor has claimed 155 wickets with her off-spin, including five four-wicket hauls. Her dual ability to lead the batting effort and deliver breakthroughs makes her a crucial component of the team’s strategy. Over the course of her career, she has also struck 568 boundaries, underlining her effectiveness once she settles at the crease.

    Chinelle Henry

Chinelle Henry offers balance to the side with her medium-fast bowling and attacking approach with the bat. In 60 ODI matches, she has taken 33 wickets, with best figures of 3 for 19, frequently providing key breakthroughs. With the bat, Henry has accumulated 817 runs, including four half-centuries, and her tally of 17 sixes reflects her aggressive intent. Her athleticism in the field and contributions in multiple disciplines make her an important asset in the overall team combination.
