Sophia Dunkley continued her extraordinary form in the Women’s Hundred 2026 by winning a third consecutive Player of the Match award and becoming the competition’s all-time leading run-scorer.
The England opener smashed 65 from just 37 deliveries as Trent Rockets chased down 123 against Birmingham Phoenix in Nottingham on August 5. The hosts completed the pursuit with six wickets and 16 balls remaining, securing a fourth consecutive victory.
Earlier, Kim Garth claimed four wickets as Trent Rockets restricted Birmingham Phoenix to 122 for 7.
Dunkley Hits Third Straight Half-Century
Dunkley once again took control of the chase with an aggressive innings at the top of the order. Her 65 was her third successive half-century and continued a remarkable run of match-winning performances.
Dunkley began the tournament with an unbeaten 43 against Birmingham Phoenix. After recording two low scores in the following matches, she rediscovered her best form and has since produced three consecutive fifties.
Her latest contribution ensured Trent Rockets maintained their winning momentum and strengthened their position in the race for direct qualification to the final.
World Cup Form Carries into The Hundred
Dunkley entered The Hundred after featuring in only three matches for England during the Women’s T20 World Cup. Despite the limited opportunities, she scored 120 runs at an average of 60 and a strike rate of 139.53, including a half-century.
She carried that confidence into the domestic competition and has become one of the most destructive batters of the 2026 season.
Speaking after the victory, Dunkley credited Trent Rockets’ batting depth for allowing her to play with freedom.
“I don’t really know to be honest, but I’m just trying to go out there, play with freedom, and enjoy myself,” Dunkley said.
“We’ve got such a good batting lineup, which gives us that freedom at the top of the order. So yeah, it’s given us a lot of belief, and it’s just nice to play.”
Dunkley Tops 2026 Run-Scoring Charts
The innings lifted Dunkley to the top of the tournament’s run-scoring list.
She has now scored 259 runs from six innings at an average of 51.80 and a strike rate of 170.39.
Her tally includes three half-centuries, all of which have come in consecutive matches.
Dunkley’s combination of consistency and rapid scoring has been central to Trent Rockets’ recent winning streak.
Dunkley Breaks Sciver-Brunt’s All-Time Record
The 65-run innings also took Dunkley past Nat Sciver-Brunt as the leading run-scorer in Women’s Hundred history. Dunkley now has 1,324 runs from 45 innings, while her Trent Rockets and England teammate Sciver-Brunt has accumulated 1,317 runs from 39 innings.
The achievement places Dunkley at the top of the competition’s all-time batting list after six editions.
When asked whether she had mentioned the record to Sciver-Brunt, Dunkley responded jokingly:
“No, I haven’t mentioned it to her! I think we’ve just been great with the bat overall.”
Garth Sets Up Comfortable Chase
Before Dunkley took charge with the bat, Garth played a crucial role in limiting Birmingham Phoenix.
The seamer claimed four wickets as Phoenix were held to 122 for 7, a total that proved insufficient against Trent Rockets’ in-form batting lineup.
Dunkley then ensured the chase remained firmly under control, scoring quickly enough to allow the Rockets to complete the match with 16 deliveries unused.
Trent Rockets Move to Top of Table
The victory lifted Trent Rockets to the top of the Women’s Hundred standings with 20 points from six matches.
They moved ahead of Southern Brave on net run rate, with the Rockets holding a figure of +1.605 compared with Brave’s +0.399.
Both teams have enjoyed excellent campaigns, but Trent Rockets’ recent sequence of four straight victories has placed them in the strongest position.
Dunkley’s record-breaking form has been the driving force behind that rise. With three consecutive Player of the Match awards, three successive fifties and the all-time run-scoring record now in her possession, she has established herself as the standout batter of the tournament so far.
