The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed the venues and dates for the 2027 Ashes, with Trent Bridge and Headingley set to host the opening matches of the men’s and women’s series respectively. England and Australia will face each other across two major Ashes campaigns during June and July 2027.
The men’s series will begin at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on June 18, while the women’s Ashes will start with a four day Test at Headingley in Leeds on June 24. Both series will follow the dual format used during the 2023 Ashes summer.
Trent Bridge to Open Men’s Ashes
The Ashes 2027 schedule will begin with the first men’s Test at Trent Bridge from June 18 to 22. It will be the first men’s Ashes Test at the Nottingham venue since 2015.
The second Test will be played at Lord’s from June 30 to July 4, followed by the third Test at Edgbaston from July 8 to 12.
The fourth match will take place at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton from July 21 to 25. It will be a historic occasion for the venue as it hosts its first men’s Ashes Test.
The fifth and final Test will be played at The Oval in London from July 29 to August 2.
Interestingly, neither Headingley nor Old Trafford has been selected as a venue for the men’s Ashes. This means northern England will not host a men’s red ball Ashes Test during the 2027 series.
Headingley to Kick Off Women’s Ashes
The women’s series will begin at Headingley on June 24, with the four-day Test running until June 27.
The Headingley Test to kick off women’s Ashes in 2027 will be particularly significant because women’s Test cricket is returning to the Leeds venue for the first time since 2001.
The women’s Ashes will continue to use the multi-format points system. The Test will be worth four points, while each white ball match will carry two points.
After the Test, England and Australia will play three T20Is. The first will take place at Trent Bridge on July 3, followed by matches at The Oval on July 6 and Emirates Old Trafford on July 9.
The series will then move into the ODI phase. The first ODI will be played at the Utilita Bowl on July 13, followed by matches at Lord’s on July 16 and Edgbaston on July 20.
England vs Australia 2027 Promises Busy Summer
The England vs Australia 2027 contests will provide cricket fans with a packed summer of international cricket.
Before the men’s Ashes begin, Australia will play a four day warm up match against the England Lions at Old Trafford from June 7 to 10. The fixture is designed to give the Australian squad stronger preparation before the Test series.
The 2027 summer will also feature a historic addition to the Ashes calendar. England and Australia will contest the inaugural Men’s Mixed Disability Ashes, bringing together players with physical, intellectual and hearing impairments in unified teams.
With five men’s Tests, a women’s Test, three women’s T20Is and three women’s ODIs, the 2027 Ashes will once again bring the two nations together across formats.
For England, the summer will offer home advantage across a series of iconic venues. For Australia, it will provide another opportunity to compete for cricket’s most famous rivalry on English soil.
