The upcoming India Women vs South Africa Women 2026 tour has been expanded with the addition of a three-match T20I series, giving both teams more valuable international cricket ahead of a major global tournament.
Cricket South Africa confirmed the addition of the T20Is, which will extend India’s multi-format tour from December 9 to December 30, 2026. The tour will now feature seven matches across three formats, including one Test, three ODIs and three T20Is.
The expanded schedule will give both teams an opportunity to test their squads in different conditions while preparing for the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in February 2027.
India Women South Africa Tour Schedule
The India Women South Africa tour schedule will begin with a one-off Test at St. George’s Park in Gqeberha from December 9 to 12.
The two teams will then move into the ODI leg of the tour. The first ODI will be played at Boland Park in Paarl on December 16, followed by the second ODI at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town on December 19.
The third and final ODI will take place at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on December 22.
The T20I series will then begin on Boxing Day, December 26. The opening match will be played at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.
The second T20I will take place at the NWU Fanie Du Toit Sports Ground in Potchefstroom on December 29. The final match of the tour will be played at the same venue on December 30.

T20Is Added Ahead of Champions Trophy
CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki explained that the additional festive period T20Is will provide important preparation for both sides before the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka in February 2027.
The India Women vs South Africa Women T20I series will also be particularly useful for India after a difficult recent record against South Africa in the shortest format.
India lost a five-match T20I series in South Africa 4-1 in April 2026. The team also suffered a setback against the Proteas during the Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
The three additional matches therefore give India another opportunity to understand South African conditions and build momentum in T20 cricket.
ODI Series Remains Important
While the T20Is will provide Champions Trophy preparation, the three ODIs will carry additional significance because they form part of the 2025 to 2029 ICC Women’s Championship cycle.
The competition serves as the qualification pathway for the 2029 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, making every ODI important for both India and South Africa.
With a Test, three ODIs and three T20Is now included, the India Women vs South Africa Women 2026 tour promises to be one of the most important assignments for both teams before the 2027 Champions Trophy.
