Scotland Women secured a convincing 24-run victory over Netherlands Women via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method in a rain-affected fifth match of the Scotland Women’s T20I Tri-Series at The Grange Club in Edinburgh. A strong batting display followed by disciplined bowling ensured the hosts stayed in control throughout the contest.
Scotland Post Strong Total in Reduced Game
After being put in to bat, Scotland made full use of the shortened 12-over innings, finishing on 124/3. The Netherlands’ decision to bowl first did not yield the desired results as Scotland’s batters adopted an aggressive approach from the outset.
Darcey Carter departed early for 2, but Kathryn Bryce and Katherine Fraser quickly shifted the momentum. Fraser played an important supporting role with 29 from 17 balls, hitting one six and three boundaries.
Kathryn Bryce led the charge with an unbeaten 63 from 33 deliveries, striking nine fours and a six. Sarah Bryce added late impetus with a quick 23 from 12 balls, including four boundaries, helping Scotland reach a commanding total.
For the Netherlands, Iris Zwilling returned figures of 1/25, while Caroline de Lange picked up 1/11. Captain Heather Siegers claimed a wicket but conceded 28 runs.
Netherlands Fall Short in DLS Chase
With rain reducing the chase to 10 overs, Netherlands were set a revised target but struggled to build momentum. The top order failed to provide a solid start, with Phebe Molkenboer dismissed for 3.
Babette de Leede scored 14 from 7 balls, including two sixes, but could not convert her start into a bigger contribution. Heather Siegers added 15 from 7 deliveries, but regular wickets disrupted the innings.
Sterre Kalis top-scored with 28 from 22 balls, hitting three boundaries, but lacked support as Netherlands were restricted to 80/6.
Scotland Bowlers Seal Comfortable Win
Scotland’s bowlers maintained tight control throughout the innings. Chloe Abel was the standout performer with figures of 2/8 from two overs. Priyanaz Chatterji (1/7) and Olivia Bell (1/14) also made key contributions with the ball.
The disciplined effort ensured Scotland defended their total comfortably, securing a 24-run win and finishing at the top of the standings in the tri-series.
