Warwickshire secured a four-wicket victory over Lancashire in a rain-affected ECB Women’s One-Day Cup 2026 match at Southport, with the contest reduced to 42 overs per side.
Chasing 227, Warwickshire reached 230 for 6, thanks to a key contribution from Charis Pavely, who top-scored with 63. The chase was completed with nine balls remaining following an unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 75 between Mary Taylor (42 not out) and Nat Wraith (34 not out).
Late Partnership Seals the Chase
Warwickshire’s reply began with an early setback as Amu Surenkumar was dismissed for 4 by Kate Cross. Georgia Redmayne added 28 before edging behind off Grace Potts, leaving the visitors at 45 for 2.
Pavely and Meg Austin then added 49 runs in quick time, with Pavely striking a six and two fours during a productive over against Grace Johnson. Austin was later dismissed for 22 by Cross, while Abbey Freeborn contributed 20 in a 36-run partnership with Pavely.
With the chase tightening, Chloe Brewer was run out for 3, and Pavely fell for 63 in the 32nd over, caught by Cross off Norris, leaving Warwickshire with work still to do.
However, Taylor and Wraith combined effectively under pressure, adding 75 runs in challenging conditions to take their side home. Taylor struck the winning runs in the 41st over.
Lancashire Build Competitive Total
Earlier, Lancashire posted 226 for 9 after being put in to bat. Eve Jones and Seren Smale provided a steady start with a 36-run opening stand before both fell in quick succession.
Captain Ellie Threlkeld (39) and Maddie Penna (38) led the recovery with an 83-run partnership for the third wicket, guiding the hosts to 120 for 2 in the 24th over.
Georgia Davis then made crucial breakthroughs, dismissing both set batters in quick succession. Penna was bowled attempting a reverse sweep, while Threlkeld was caught at short extra cover.
Lower Order Adds Late Runs
Lancashire’s middle and lower order added useful runs, with Fi Morris scoring 21, Ailsa Lister contributing 27, and Cross providing a quick 34 from 33 balls.
The hosts added 63 runs in the final ten overs to reach 226 for 9. For Warwickshire, Mary Taylor led the bowling effort with 3 for 47, while Phoebe Brett (2-35) and Georgia Davis (2 wickets) provided key support.
Despite Lancashire’s late push, Warwickshire’s composed chase ensured they secured victory with contributions across the batting lineup.
