Mady Villiers produced a superb all-round performance to guide Durham to a five-wicket win over Warwickshire in the ECB Women’s One-Day Cup 2026 at Edgbaston.
Warwickshire posted a strong 289 for 6, led by Davina Perrin’s 69 off 105 balls, Charis Pavely’s 55 from 59, and Nat Wraith’s half-century. Villiers was Durham’s standout bowler with 3 for 38 before making an even bigger impact with the bat.
She struck 106 off 86 balls, her first century for Durham, as the visitors chased down 290 for 5 with 25 deliveries remaining. Emily Windsor then completed the job with an unbeaten 85 off 83 balls, ensuring Durham finished the chase with control.
Warwickshire Build Through Perrin and Pavely
After opting to bat first, Warwickshire were handed an early life when Perrin was dropped at point by Katherine Fraser off Villiers before scoring. The missed chance proved expensive.
Durham did strike through Villiers, who bowled Amu Surenkumar attempting a slog-sweep, while Meg Austin was later caught at mid-on off Katie Levick. Perrin and Pavely then rebuilt strongly, adding 108 runs in 19 overs.
Perrin reached her fifty from 91 balls, while Pavely was quicker to the mark, getting there in 51 deliveries. Pavely also brought up Warwickshire’s hundred in style, pulling Abi Glen for six over midwicket.
The partnership ended when Villiers dragged one short and Perrin, looking for another big shot, picked out deep midwicket.
Pavely followed soon after, run out by Emma Marlow’s direct hit from extra cover after being called through for a tight single by Chloe Brewer.
Wraith Adds Late Momentum
Durham were unable to fully capitalise on those quick wickets as Wraith and Brewer added 79 in 11 overs. Wraith provided important acceleration late in the innings, striking seven fours and a six before lifting Levick to long-off.
Their partnership helped Warwickshire reach 289 for 6, setting Durham a demanding target.
Villiers Leads Durham Recovery
Durham’s reply began poorly as Alexa Stonehouse struck in each of her first two overs. Marlow was clipped to midwicket before Hollie Armitage was bowled by a swinging yorker.
Villiers then joined Tahlia Wilson to steady the innings with a 58-run partnership across 13 overs. Wilson fell when she lifted a Hannah Baker full toss to mid-on, but Villiers kept pushing the chase forward.
From the start, Villiers batted with authority. She reached her half-century from 53 balls and then accelerated sharply, bringing up her hundred in another 32 deliveries. Her innings ended when Baker bowled her through an attempted big shot, but by then Durham were firmly back in the contest.
Windsor Finishes the Chase
Windsor and Bess Heath kept Durham’s momentum going with a 67-run partnership in ten overs. Heath was eventually caught at deep square leg off Stonehouse, but Windsor stayed calm at the other end.
Grace Thompson then joined her and made an unbeaten 30 off 22 balls. Together, Windsor and Thompson added an unbroken 66-run stand in 40 deliveries to complete a memorable chase for Durham.
