Yorkshire Women delivered a well-rounded performance to defeat The Blaze Women by 70 runs in the ECB Women’s One-Day Cup 2026 clash at Leeds on April 18. The contest featured several momentum shifts, but Yorkshire’s strong partnerships and disciplined bowling ultimately proved decisive.

After being put in to bat, Yorkshire began steadily, though they lost their first wicket at 69 in 18.3 overs. From there, the innings was built around a crucial stand between Lauren Winfield-Hill and Jess Jonassen, which laid the foundation for a competitive total.

Winfield-Hill anchored the innings with a composed 90 off 101 balls, striking 11 boundaries, while Jonassen added impetus with a fluent 67 from 57 deliveries. Their partnership carried Yorkshire to 191 before Jonassen’s dismissal, and despite a cluster of wickets at 191/3, 196/4, and 199/5, the platform had already been established.

Kalis’ Late Surge Pushes Yorkshire Past 280

Sterre Kalis provided a vital boost in the latter stages, striking 61 off 42 balls, including 8 fours and 3 sixes. Her contribution, along with support from Erin Thomas (9) and Rachel Slater (2*), ensured Yorkshire batted through their 50 overs to post 280/9. Extras added a further 26 runs to the total.

For The Blaze Women, Grace Ballinger returned figures of 2 for 53, while Georgia Elwiss and Kathryn Bryce picked up 2 and 1 wickets respectively. Kirstie Gordon and Lucy Higham maintained control with economical spells but were unable to make breakthroughs at key moments.

Early Blow and Middle-Order Collapse Hurt The Blaze

Chasing 281, The Blaze struggled to build sustained momentum. Their innings got off to the worst possible start with Tammy Beaumont dismissed for a duck at 1/0 in 0.3 overs. However, Marie Kelly and Kathryn Bryce steadied the chase with a 125-run partnership for the second wicket, taking the score to 126 in 20.1 overs.

Kelly scored 56 off 73 balls, while Bryce contributed a brisk 55 off 47, keeping The Blaze in contention. But soon after, the innings unraveled as wickets fell in quick succession, 127/3, 128/4, and 132/5, shifting control firmly back to Yorkshire.

Georgia Elwiss (1), Orla Prendergast (2), and Sarah Bryce (8) were unable to convert their starts, while Emma Jones added 14 and Kirstie Gordon fought for 24. Grace Ballinger chipped in with 29 off 46 balls, but the increasing required rate made the chase difficult to sustain.

    Jonassen Leads the Bowling Charge

Yorkshire’s bowlers maintained consistent pressure throughout the second innings. Jess Jonassen capped an outstanding all-round performance with 4 wickets for just 18 runs in 7 overs, dismantling the middle order.

Claudie Cooper provided strong support with 3 for 31, while Rachel Slater claimed 1 wicket. Beth Langston and Jessica Woolston delivered tight spells to ensure The Blaze never regained control. The innings ended at 210 in 41.2 overs, leaving Yorkshire with a comfortable 70-run victory.

In the end, Yorkshire Women’s depth with the bat and control with the ball proved decisive, as they combined key partnerships with effective bowling spells to secure a convincing win in the ECB Women’s One-Day Cup 2026.
