Charley Phillips delivered an impressive four-wicket haul to set up The Blaze’s three-wicket victory over Hampshire in the ECB Women’s One-Day Cup 2026 women’s competition at Trent Bridge. The result extended The Blaze’s lead at the top of the table to nine points and marked their sixth consecutive win.
Chasing a target of 210, Tammy Beaumont led the scoring with 57, supported by Kathryn Bryce’s 32 and Orla Prendergast’s 28. Emma Jones then guided the side home with an unbeaten 37 from 31 balls, sealing the chase with 29 deliveries remaining.
Earlier, Hampshire posted 209 after opting to bat, with captain Georgia Adams making 89, Ella McCaughan contributing 48 and Francesca Sweet finishing unbeaten on 35. However, Phillips continued her strong start to the season, returning figures of 4 for 31 as Hampshire lost momentum late in their innings. The 23-year-old seamer has now taken 18 wickets in the competition.
The Blaze’s chase began with an early setback when Marie Kelly was bowled by Daisy Gibb in the third over. Beaumont and Kathryn Bryce steadied the innings with a 59-run partnership before Bryce was dismissed leg before for 32 attempting a paddle-scoop.
Beaumont then added 51 with Georgia Elwiss, though Elwiss fell after edging a paddle-sweep to slip. At 117 for 3 after 25 overs, The Blaze appeared in control.
However, the game tightened when Beaumont, fresh from an unbeaten 99 against Somerset, was dismissed by looping a full toss to mid-off. Linsey Smith then removed Sarah Bryce, and when Prendergast was caught at extra cover, Hampshire sensed an opportunity at 162 for 6.
Kirstie Gordon fell for one with 36 runs still required, but Jones and Lucy Higham held their nerve in the closing stages. Jones eventually finished the match with her fifth boundary.
Hampshire’s innings had earlier stumbled at the outset when Phillips struck twice in her opening over, trapping Rhianna Southby lbw and bowling Abi Norgrove to leave the visitors at 2 for 2.
Adams and McCaughan rebuilt the innings with a 116-run partnership across 29 overs. Adams reached a half-century from 72 balls, striking six boundaries and targeting loose deliveries, particularly on the leg side. McCaughan, however, fell for 48, two runs short of a second successive fifty.
Despite their recovery, Hampshire were unable to capitalise fully. Naomi Dattani was run out after hesitation at the non-striker’s end, and Adams, after a reprieve on 88, was bowled by Kathryn Bryce in the same over.
Although Sweet contributed another useful innings, Hampshire’s collapse followed quickly, losing their final six wickets for 26 runs. Jones and Kathryn Bryce effected run-outs of Linsey Smith and Daisy Gibb, while Amanda Jade-Wellington was caught at wide long-on. Poppy Tulloch and Tyson were both bowled as the innings came to a close.
