Maia Bouchier delivered a stunning career-best 143 to outshine Bex Odgers’ unbeaten 133, as Hampshire secured a five-wicket victory over Somerset in the ECB Women’s One-Day Cup 2026.
Chasing 282, Hampshire completed the task comfortably, powered by a commanding 149-run partnership between Bouchier and Freya Kemp.
Odgers and Skelton Lift Somerset
Earlier, Somerset’s total was built around a superb innings from Odgers, who carried her bat through the innings. Her 133 came alongside a record-breaking unbroken 150-run stand for the seventh wicket with Chloe Skelton, who contributed 77*.
That partnership not only revived the innings but also became the highest seventh-wicket stand in the country and the third-highest overall.
Somerset’s innings had earlier fluctuated. Ruby Davis fell early to Naomi Dattani, while a middle-order collapse saw the side slide from 102 for 1 to 131 for 6 within a short span. Amanda-Jade Wellington led the bowling effort with 2 for 31, as spin played a key role in applying pressure.
Before the collapse, Odgers had shared an 86-run stand with Anika Learoyd to lay a solid foundation. Despite the absence of captain Sophie Luff due to concussion protocols, Odgers held the innings together and, with Skelton’s late acceleration, helped Somerset post a competitive 281 for 6, including a rapid 104 runs in the final ten overs.
Bouchier and Kemp Dominate Chase
Hampshire’s reply saw early setbacks with the dismissals of Ella McCaughan and Abi Norgrove, bringing Bouchier and Kemp together at a crucial stage.
The pair seized control, putting on a decisive 149-run partnership. Bouchier set the tone immediately, striking the first ball she faced to the boundary and maintaining a relentless scoring rate throughout her 111-ball innings. She combined elegance with aggression, dispatching both loose and well-directed deliveries with equal authority.
Kemp played an effective supporting role, contributing 64 before being dismissed with 86 runs still required.
Hampshire Finish Strong
Even after Kemp’s departure, Hampshire remained in control. Bouchier eventually fell after being caught at long-on by stand-in captain Niamh Holland, but the outcome was never in doubt.
Rhianna Southby, Naomi Dattani and Megan Sturge completed the chase, guiding Hampshire to victory with more than nine overs to spare.
