Ireland Women secured an 11-run victory over Bangladesh Women in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up match after posting 143/9 and then restricting Bangladesh to 132/6. Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first, but Ireland’s total proved enough as Aimee Maguire led the defence with a decisive four-wicket spell.
Ireland reached 143/9 from their 20 overs. Rebecca Stokell held the innings together with a top score of 30 from 26 balls, while Ava Canning gave the total a late lift with an unbeaten 21 from just 8 deliveries. Amy Hunter also contributed 19 from 14 at the top of the order, while captain Gaby Lewis made 18 off 19.
For Bangladesh, Sanjida Akter Meghla was the most effective bowler, taking three important wickets. She dismissed Hunter, Orla Prendergast for 6, and Louise Little for 10. Marufa Akter struck early by removing Alana Dalzell for a duck and later getting Lewis, while Rabeya Khan, Sobhana Mostary, Ritu Moni and Nahida Akter also picked up one wicket each to keep Ireland under pressure.
Meghla finished with figures of 3 wickets for 26 runs from her 4 overs. Marufa provided strong support with 2 wickets for 18 runs, while Rabeya bowled a tight spell of 1 wicket for 9 runs from 2 overs.
Ritu Moni took 1 wicket for 26 runs from her full quota of 4 overs, while Mostary and Nahida also chipped in with one wicket each, conceding 14 and 39 runs respectively. Sultana Khatun was the only Bangladesh bowler to remain wicketless, giving away 9 runs in her only over, as Ireland set Bangladesh a target of 144.
Bangladesh fell short in the chase and finished on 132/6 from their 20 overs. Opener Juairiya Ferdous led the innings with a solid half-century, scoring 50 off 38 balls with 10 fours. Sharmin Akhter made a steady 27 from 40 deliveries, while captain Nigar Sultana added 19 off 14. Shorna Akter remained unbeaten on 12 from 9 balls, with Nahida Akter not out on 7 from 3.
Ireland’s bowling effort was led by Maguire, who broke through the middle order and finished with four key wickets. She dismissed Dilara Akter for a duck, Sharmin Akhter, Nigar Sultana and Sobhana Mostary for 2. Lara McBride and Canning took one wicket each, removing Ferdous and Ritu Moni for 8 respectively, as Ireland held their nerve to complete the win.
Maguire ended with excellent figures of 4 wickets for 20 runs from her 4 overs. Canning and McBride gave useful support, returning 1/19 from 3 overs and 1/17 from 2 overs respectively. Cara Murray also bowled economically, conceding only 21 runs from her 4 overs without taking a wicket.
The rest of Ireland’s attack went wicketless but contributed to the defence. Arlene Kelly finished with 0/11 from 2 overs, Orla Prendergast had 0/12 from 2 overs, Alana Dalzell returned 0/17 from 2 overs, and Georgina Dempsey conceded 14 runs from 1 over.
For Ireland, Canning’s unbeaten late cameo of 21 off 8 balls helped push them to a competitive total before Maguire’s four-wicket haul proved decisive. Bangladesh, meanwhile, lost momentum in the chase, with Sharmin Akhter’s 27 off 40 balls slowing the innings, while Nahida Akter’s expensive spell also hurt their chances.
