Lancashire Women produced a strong all-round display to secure their second win of the ECB Women’s One-Day Cup 2026, defeating Hampshire Women by six wickets with 16.3 overs remaining at Emirates Old Trafford.
A disciplined bowling effort, spearheaded by Kate Cross, set up the victory as Hampshire were bowled out for 153 in 42.1 overs. Cross finished with figures of 3 for 31, while Amanda-Jade Wellington, batting at No. 8, top-scored for the visitors with 32.
Cross and Bowlers Restrict Hampshire
Hampshire struggled to build momentum after being asked to bat first. Cross struck early, removing Maia Bouchier in the third over to claim her 100th wicket for Lancashire in the professional era. The hosts maintained control throughout the powerplay, conceding just 29 runs in the opening ten overs.
Ella McCaughan and Abi Norgrove attempted to stabilise the innings with a half-century stand, but both fell in quick succession. Norgrove was dismissed for 20, while McCaughan followed for 30.
Hannah Jones, who returned 2 for 24, added further pressure as Hampshire slipped to 74 for 4. Wickets continued to fall regularly, with Megan Sturge, Nancy Harman and others unable to push the scoring forward as the innings declined to 103 for 6 in the 33rd over.
Captain Naomi Dattani contributed a determined 29, but it was Wellington’s late effort of 32 off 40 balls that helped Hampshire cross the 150 mark. She shared a 23-run tenth-wicket partnership with Bex Tyson (3 not out) before the innings closed at 153.
Openers Lay Foundation for Chase
Lancashire’s response was built on a commanding 93-run opening partnership between Emma Lamb and Eve Jones, which effectively decided the contest.
The pair began cautiously, reaching 36 without loss in the powerplay, before gradually increasing the scoring rate. Jones struck boundaries off Bex Tyson and Wellington, helping the partnership reach its fifty from 83 deliveries.
Jones eventually fell for 47 after being stumped off Wellington, who also removed Seren Smale for 0 shortly after, briefly halting Lancashire’s progress.
Lamb Anchors, Penna Finishes
Emma Lamb, who had earlier been dropped on 18, continued steadily and brought up her half-century from 76 balls. She found support from Maddie Penna, who remained unbeaten on 36 and struck a towering six off Megan Sturge.
Lamb was dismissed for 56 just before the finish, and Ellie Threlkeld also departed with the target in sight. However, Penna sealed the win in emphatic fashion with a six, guiding Lancashire to 157 for 4.
