West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Shemaine Campbelle achieved a significant career milestone on March 20, 2026, during a difficult run chase against Australia at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent. The experienced 33-year-old became the first player from her country to reach 150 T20I appearances and also crossed the mark of 1500 runs in the format.

Batting at number three in the opening T20I of the white-ball series, with Hayley Matthews captaining the hosts and Sophie Molineux leading Australia, Campbelle compiled a steady 15 from 15 deliveries, striking one four and one six. However, West Indies finished on 121/6 in their 20 overs, falling 43 runs short of Australia’s total of 165. The contest marked the start of a tour featuring three T20Is followed by three ODIs, scheduled through April 2.

Campbelle’s latest achievement came 17 years after her international debut. She first represented West Indies in an ODI against South Africa in Paarl on October 21, 2009, before making her T20I debut at the same venue four days later. Over the course of 150 T20Is and 120 innings, she has accumulated 1,504 runs at an average of 15.50, establishing herself as a dependable presence in the middle order as well as behind the stumps.

Although she is yet to register a half-century in T20Is, her highest score remains 47 off 57 balls against India at East London on January 23, 2023. Batting at number three in pursuit of 168, she struck five boundaries and one six, but West Indies ended on 111/4, 56 runs short of the target.

In addition to her batting and wicketkeeping contributions, Campbelle has also offered a useful bowling option. Across 44 bowling innings in the format, she has claimed 34 wickets, maintaining an economy rate of 5.11 and an average of 19.88. Her versatility has ensured her continued importance to the side as they aim to recover in the ongoing series and build momentum ahead of the 10th ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales, set to be held from June 12 to July 5, 2026.
