Richa Ghosh Named Bengal Captain for Senior Women’s T20 Trophy

India wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh has been appointed captain of Bengal for the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2026.

The 23-year-old will lead a 17-member squad, with India fast bowler Titas Sadhu serving as vice-captain.

The leadership appointments and squad were reported on October 16. Former captain Mita Paul has also retained her place in the team. <Cite ref=”turn491152search1″/>

Richa has established herself as an important member of India’s international setup through her aggressive middle-order batting and wicketkeeping.

She recently played a significant role in India’s gold medal victory at the 2026 Asian Games.

In the final against Sri Lanka, Richa scored an unbeaten 49 from 22 deliveries. She also registered a half-century during India’s one-off Test against England at Lord’s in July.

Her appointment represents a new leadership chapter for Bengal ahead of the domestic T20 competition.

Titas Sadhu Returns as Bengal Vice-Captain

Titas Sadhu returns to Bengal’s squad after missing the 2026 Women’s Premier League season because of a thumb injury.

The India pacer will take on additional responsibility as vice-captain alongside Richa.

Her return strengthens Bengal’s bowling options and adds international experience to the squad.

Former captain Mita Paul provides another experienced option, while senior batter Dhara Gujjar has been left out because of a hamstring injury. <Cite ref=”turn491152search1″/>

Bengal will therefore begin the competition with a revised leadership combination and a mixture of established and emerging players.

Their second match will follow the next day against Chhattisgarh, before they face Jammu & Kashmir on October 29.

Bengal’s fixture list includes matches on consecutive days at the start of the competition, making squad rotation and player recovery important considerations.

With only the top two teams from each Elite group advancing to the Super League, consistency during the league phase will be essential.

Why the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy Matters

The Senior Women’s T20 Trophy remains an important competition in India’s domestic cricket structure.

It gives players from established teams and emerging cricket regions an opportunity to compete at the national level.

Performances in the tournament can also help players strengthen their prospects for future domestic and franchise opportunities.

For Bengal, the competition will provide an early test of the leadership partnership between Richa Ghosh and Titas Sadhu.

Their ability to manage a demanding group-stage schedule could play an important role in the team’s progress.

Other established domestic teams, including Railways, Mumbai, Karnataka and Delhi, will also be looking to make an impact during the competition.

    Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2026 Final on November 20

The Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2026 will conclude on November 20, when the winners of the two Super League groups meet in the Elite final.

The BCCI lists Narendra Modi Stadium Ground B in Motera, Ahmedabad, as the venue for the title decider. <Cite ref=”turn491152search15″/>

Before that, the 37 participating teams will compete through a busy domestic schedule beginning on October 26.

The tournament will provide an opportunity for established India internationals, experienced domestic cricketers and emerging players to showcase their abilities.

With Richa Ghosh leading Bengal, Titas Sadhu returning from injury and several competitive groups across the Elite division, the 2026 edition promises an important month of women’s domestic T20 cricket in India.
