The CSA Women’s Pro50 Series 2025–26 final at Kingsmead unfolded in contrasting phases before Western Province secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over Lions.

The Province side delivered a disciplined performance, effectively deciding the contest early by dismantling the Lions’ batting unit. After winning the toss and opting to bat, the Lions were bowled out for just 99 in 29.3 overs. Western Province then completed the chase with minimal trouble, reaching 100/2 in 23.6 overs to lift the title comfortably.

Lions began the morning with optimism, but Western Province’s seamers quickly asserted control on a Durban surface that offered assistance. Delmi Tucker led the charge, producing figures of 3/18 from 7.3 overs. She was well supported by Caitlin Wyngaard, who claimed 3/25, ensuring the batting side struggled to establish any significant partnerships.

Amid the collapse, Diara Ramlakan provided the only major resistance with a determined 41 from 51 balls. Support was limited, with Sarah Nettleton unbeaten on 12 and Sunette Viljoen-Louw managing 8 as the only other batters to reach notable contributions. With the innings ending before the 30-over mark, the Lions were left with a modest total to defend.

Western Province approached the chase with composure, balancing caution with steady scoring. Faye Tunnicliffe anchored the innings with an unbeaten 38 from 57 deliveries. Although Shabnim Ismail attempted to create pressure with figures of 2/34 in her eight-over spell, the target proved insufficient against a deep batting lineup.

Megan Fourie added 20 to help ease the early phase against the new ball. With the foundation established, the outcome soon appeared inevitable. Appropriately, Tucker joined Tunnicliffe at the crease towards the end, remaining unbeaten on 20 from 34 balls as Western Province completed the chase in the 24th over, capping an all-round Player of the Match display.

The triumph underlined Western Province’s preparation and execution in the final, as they controlled proceedings from the outset. For the Lions, the result highlighted a difficult outing in which their batting unit could not deliver when required, allowing the Cape-based side to finish the Pro50 campaign in emphatic fashion.
