Warwickshire Women produced a dominant batting display against Hampshire Women in Match 6 of the ECB Women’s One-Day Cup 2026 in Birmingham, but persistent rain forced the game to be abandoned, with both sides sharing points.

    Strong Opening Sets the Platform

Warwickshire began with intent, as their opening pair laid a solid foundation. Amu Surenkumar anchored the innings with a steady 51 off 63 balls, striking seven boundaries and rotating the strike effectively. At the other end, Davina Perrin provided early momentum with an attacking 81 off 76 deliveries, including eight fours and three sixes.

The duo put together a strong opening stand, taking the score past 100 before Surenkumar was dismissed at 147 in 22.4 overs. Perrin followed soon after at 151 in 23.6 overs, but Warwickshire had already established control.

    Middle Order Maintains Momentum

Meg Austin ensured the tempo remained high, scoring a brisk 51 off 43 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Her innings kept the scoring rate above six before she was dismissed at 248 in 37.3 overs.

Katie George then contributed a composed 56 off 51 balls, balancing strike rotation with regular boundary hitting. She added valuable runs alongside Charis Pavely before falling at 270 in 40.5 overs.

Pavely Finishes Strong as Warwickshire Cross 350

Charis Pavely took charge in the final overs, producing an unbeaten 63 off 38 balls, striking eight boundaries and a six. Despite wickets falling at the other end—Chloe Brewer (8) at 287, Natasha Wraith (9) at 326, and Mary Taylor (2) at 329—Warwickshire maintained their momentum.

Alexa Stonehouse added a quick 13* off 7 balls, while 20 extras further boosted the total as Warwickshire finished on 354/7 in 50 overs.

    Hampshire Bowlers Face Tough Conditions

Hampshire’s bowling attack found it difficult to contain the scoring. Bex Tyson was the most successful bowler, claiming 3/66 in her 10 overs. Daisy Gibb delivered a disciplined spell of 1/50 in 10 overs.

Amanda-Jade Wellington (1/56), Naomi Dattani (1/63), and Megan Sturge (1/45) also took wickets but struggled to restrict runs, especially during the closing overs. Francesca Sweet and Georgia Adams were unable to make breakthroughs as Warwickshire capitalised throughout.

Rain Ends Contest Before Chase Begins

Hampshire were set to chase a target of 355, but heavy rain prevented any further play, resulting in the match being abandoned without a ball bowled in the second innings.

While Warwickshire will take positives from their batting performance, both teams were left frustrated as the weather denied a potential run chase.
