Trent Rockets Women have strengthened their backroom staff ahead of The Hundred 2026 by appointing England legend Katherine Sciver-Brunt as their new assistant coach. The role marks the first coaching position for the former fast bowler since she retired from professional cricket in 2023.

The appointment is a special homecoming for Sciver-Brunt, who represented Trent Rockets as a player during the first three editions of The Hundred between 2021 and 2023. Her experience and leadership are expected to play a key role as the franchise targets another successful campaign.

    Katherine Sciver-Brunt Coach Role Begins

The Katherine Sciver-Brunt coach appointment is an important milestone in the former England star’s career. After stepping away from playing cricket three years ago, she is now ready to begin a new chapter by helping develop the next generation of players.

Speaking about her return to the Rockets, Sciver-Brunt said she had spent the last three years adjusting to life after retirement and becoming a mother. She added that Trent Rockets was the first place she thought of when considering a return to cricket and described the opportunity to coach the team as one she could not refuse.

She also said she is excited to mentor players at the highest level and believes coaching will be something she truly enjoys.

Trent Rockets Women Coaching Staff Takes Shape

The Trent Rockets Women coaching staff now features a strong mix of experienced coaches and former international players.

    • Head Coach: Chris Read
    • Assistant Coach: Katherine Sciver-Brunt
    • Fielding Coach: Graeme White

Former Nottinghamshire spinner Graeme White continues in his role as fielding coach, while Chris Read remains the head coach heading into the 2026 season.

The leadership group on the field has also changed. Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner will captain the side after succeeding Nat Sciver-Brunt, who stepped down from the role last season to focus on her England commitments. Nat Sciver-Brunt, however, remains a key member of the playing squad.

On the men’s side, former South Africa white ball bowling coach Anton Roux has also joined Peter Moores’ coaching team as assistant coach.

    A Legendary Career

Sciver-Brunt leaves behind one of the greatest playing careers in England women’s cricket.

She claimed 335 international wickets, the second highest tally in England women’s history. In One Day Internationals alone, she picked up 170 wickets, establishing herself as one of the world’s finest fast bowlers.

She was also a vital member of England’s squads that won the 2009 Women’s T20 World Cup and the 2017 Women’s ODI World Cup. Earlier this year, her contribution to cricket was recognised with an OBE for services to the sport.

Her experience at the highest level is expected to benefit both young and senior players in the Trent Rockets squad.

    Trent Rockets Women Team News

The latest Trent Rockets Women team news highlights the franchise’s commitment to building a strong coaching setup ahead of The Hundred 2026. Sciver-Brunt’s arrival adds another former England great to the competition’s coaching ranks, joining the likes of Anya Shrubsole at Manchester Super Giants and Sarah Taylor at Southern Brave.

With an experienced coaching team, a new captain in Ashleigh Gardner, and established stars such as Nat Sciver-Brunt in the squad, Trent Rockets Women will head into the new season with high expectations. The addition of Katherine Sciver-Brunt is expected to strengthen both the team’s culture and its chances of competing for The Hundred title in 2026.
