The Pakistan women’s cricket team’s journey back home from South Africa has been postponed amid ongoing cross-border tensions in the Middle East and a partial shutdown of regional airspace, sources told Geo Super on Monday.
The side had been due to leave Durban for Pakistan via Dubai on Monday night after wrapping up the ODI leg of the tour. However, flight services across parts of the Middle East have continued to face disruptions because of the prevailing regional situation.
While limited flight operations resumed earlier in the day, sources indicated that the team will only begin its return once full flight services are restored.
As a result, Pakistan’s stay in Durban has been extended. Clarity on their travel arrangements is expected within the next two to three days, sources added.
Tour Summary
Pakistan’s visit to South Africa featured three-match T20I and ODI series, with the hosts securing both contests by 2-1 margins.
The tourists concluded their white-ball campaign on a high note, registering a commanding 119-run win over South Africa in the third ODI at Kingsmead in Durban on Sunday.
After being asked to bat first, the Green Shirts amassed 306/8 in their allotted 50 overs, powered by half-centuries from Sadaf Shamas and captain Fatima Sana. The bowlers then combined effectively to dismiss South Africa for 187 in 36.2 overs.
