The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has unveiled the inaugural T20 Hall of Fame, recognising the standout figures who have defined domestic T20 cricket across more than two decades in England and Wales. From its early experimental phase in 2003 to the packed stadiums of today, the format has produced a generation of players now set to be honoured through this initiative.

A 12-player shortlist has been announced, combining long-term consistency with match-winning impact, and reflecting the evolution of the domestic game across both men’s and women’s competitions.

    Star-Studded Shortlist Across Formats

On the men’s side, the nominees include some of the most influential performers in T20 Blast history. James Vince, the competition’s leading run-scorer, features alongside Danny Briggs, who holds the record for most wickets with 268. Experienced all-rounders Samit Patel and Ravi Bopara have also been recognised for their sustained impact with both bat and ball over the years.

    Women’s Game Well Represented

The women’s shortlist mirrors the growth of domestic T20 cricket, spanning from the early days of the T20 Super League to the Charlotte Edwards Cup and the current Blast structure.

Charlotte Edwards stands out as a key figure, having made a successful transition from a title-winning captain to a coach with multiple trophies. She is joined by established names such as Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight, both known for delivering in high-pressure matches.

Also included are Danni Wyatt-Hodge, the leading run-scorer since 2016, and experienced bowlers Kirstie Gordon and Katie Levick, whose performances have been central to their teams’ success in regional competitions.

    Public Vote Adds Fan Influence

A notable aspect of the Hall of Fame selection process is the involvement of fans. While an independent panel will play a major role in determining the final inductees, the ECB has introduced a Public Vote component, allowing supporters to contribute to the outcome.

This approach aims to recognise not only statistical excellence but also the players who have resonated most strongly with audiences over the years.

Inductees to Be Announced Ahead of Blast

The first group of inductees—two men and two women—will be revealed on May 15, just one week before the start of the 2026 T20 Blast season.

With the announcement adding further anticipation to the upcoming campaign, the Hall of Fame represents a significant step in celebrating the legacy of players who have shaped the shortest format in English domestic cricket.
