The auction of the 2026 edition of The Hundred showed the growing commercial value of Women’s cricket. Many world-class players from around the globe attracted interest, which led to intense bidding battles between the teams. The most expensive player in the auction was Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney, who were signed by the Welsh Fire and the Trent Rockets for £210,000, while Dani Gibson got a close second as she was signed by the Sunrisers Leeds for a £190,000 deal. All these signings highlight the significance of all-around abilities and experience in players who can deliver consistently in the tournament, as the teams were looking to build competitive squads for the upcoming season of The Hundred.

    1) Sophie Devine (Welsh Fire) – £210,000

Sophie Devine, the New Zealand all-rounder, has been considered as one of the greats in the game as she delivers consistently at the biggest stage of the game, and she has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in franchise cricket. In the 2026 Hundred auction, she was signed by the Welsh Fire for £210,000, which was the joint-highest bid in the auction. In her Hundred career, she has scored 576 runs from 28 innings at a strike rate of 117, and she has also picked up 16 wickets from 24 innings at an economy rate of 7. She will be a great addition to the Welsh Fire squad.

    2) Beth Mooney (Trent Rockets) – £210,000

Beth Mooney, the Australian wicketkeeper batter, has been a great top-order batter as she is a fine run-getter who is celebrated across different franchise leagues across the globe. In the 2026 Hundred auction, she was signed by the Trent Rockets for £210,000, which was the joint highest bid in the auction. In her Hundred career, she has scored 571 runs from 21 innings at a strike rate of 134. She will be a fine addition to the Trent Rockets squad as she brings in a lot of experience and will add a lot of value to the batting unit of the side.

    3) Danielle Gibson (Sunrisers Leeds)- £190,000

Danielle Gibson, the English bowling all-rounder, has been a fine young prospect as she has proved her worth in the limited number of matches she has played at the international level and in franchise cricket. In the 2026 Hundred auction, she was signed by the Sunrisers Leeds for £190,000, which is the 2nd highest bid in the auction. In her Hundred career, she has 444 runs from 35 innings at a strike rate of 143, and she has also picked up 20 wickets from 28 innings at an economy rate of 8. She will be considered a very valuable asset as she will be well-suited to her home conditions, and she can play a key role in the batting and bowling unit of the team.
