The biggest rivalry in cricket is ready to light up the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. India women’s national cricket team and Pakistan women’s national cricket team will face each other on June 14 at Edgbaston in Birmingham in one of the most awaited matches of the tournament.

The clash comes early in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 schedule, but it could play a major role in deciding which teams reach the semi finals from Group 1.

    Match details

    • Match: India Women vs Pakistan Women
    • Date: June 14, 2026
    • Venue: Edgbaston
    • Time: 7:00 PM IST

Edgbaston is expected to be packed with fans from both countries. The atmosphere is likely to be electric as supporters create a sea of blue and green in Birmingham.

India hold the edge in history

India have dominated this rivalry in women’s T20 internationals over the years.

Out of 18 T20I meetings, India have won 15 matches while Pakistan have managed just three victories.

Their last major World Cup meeting also went India’s way. India defeated Pakistan by 88 runs during the ODI World Cup in Colombo, while they also won the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup clash by six wickets.

This gives India a clear psychological advantage heading into the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 contest.

Who is the captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team 2026?

Many fans are asking: Who is the captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team 2026?

Harmanpreet Kaur continues to lead the Indian side, while Smriti Mandhana serves as vice captain.

Harmanpreet’s experience in major ICC tournaments makes her one of India’s biggest strengths heading into the competition.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 India squad core

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 India squad includes a strong mix of experienced stars and young talent.

India’s batting unit is expected to feature:

    • Smriti Mandhana
    • Shafali Verma
    • Jemimah Rodrigues
    • Richa Ghosh

The all round department will rely heavily on Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil.

India’s pace attack is likely to be led by Renuka Singh.

Key battles that could decide the match

One of the biggest matchups will be Smriti Mandhana against Pakistan spinner Sadia Iqbal in the powerplay overs.

Another important contest will involve Pakistan captain Fatima Sana against Harmanpreet Kaur in the middle overs.

Deepti Sharma’s spin bowling could also become a major factor on the Edgbaston pitch.

Women’s T20 World Cup India vs Pakistan predictions

India enter the match as favorites because of their stronger record, experienced batting lineup, and better performances in recent ICC tournaments.

However, Pakistan have shown in the past that they can surprise India on big occasions. Their famous Asia Cup win in 2022 remains proof that they cannot be underestimated.

With Australia and South Africa also present in Group 1, this match carries huge importance. A loss early in the tournament could seriously damage semi final hopes.

That is why the India vs Pakistan clash may become one of the defining matches of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
