    President Murmu, PM Modi Congratulate India Women on Record Eighth Asia Cup Title Win

    President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the congratulations for the Indian women’s cricket team after their impressive 72-run victory over Sri Lanka in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final in Dubai. The victory helped India secure a record-extending eighth Asia Cup title and capped an unbeaten campaign for Harmanpreet Kaur’s side.

    The success received praise from leaders and prominent figures across the political and sporting spectrum. Both President Murmu and PM Modi highlighted the team’s confidence, consistency, teamwork and ability to inspire young people across the country.

    President Murmu Praises Unbeaten India Women

    In her message, President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the entire Indian team for their performance throughout the tournament. She praised the players for winning every match and making the country proud with their consistent performances.

    The President Murmu India Women message also highlighted the importance of the team’s success for young athletes. She described the players as a source of inspiration, particularly for girls across the country, while expressing confidence that they would achieve even greater success in the future.

    Her message came after India produced another dominant performance in the final and completed a perfect tournament without suffering a single defeat.

    PM Modi Congratulates India Women

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the team following their historic title win. In his message, he described the victory as a proud moment for Indian cricket and praised the confidence, consistency and fighting spirit shown by the players during the tournament.

    The PM Modi congratulates India Women message also focused on the wider impact of the achievement. Modi said the triumph could inspire millions of youngsters across India to take up sport and aim for success.

    The Prime Minister’s comments reflected the growing recognition of women’s cricket in India, with the national team continuing to produce major results on the international stage.

    India Women Dominate Sri Lanka in Final

    India’s victory in the final was built around a superb batting performance followed by an equally strong bowling display. The Indian team scored 183 for five, with Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana putting together a massive 129 run opening partnership.

    Shafali scored 68 from 39 balls, while Mandhana contributed 59 from 39 balls. Their aggressive batting gave India a strong platform before the bowlers completed the job by dismissing Sri Lanka for 111.

    Sree Charani was the standout bowler with four wickets for 20 runs from her four overs, while Deepti Sharma claimed three wickets for 19 runs. India eventually secured a comfortable 72 run victory and completed an unbeaten run through the tournament.

    Leaders Across India Celebrate Historic Triumph

    Several other political and sporting figures also congratulated the India Women Asia Cup champions. BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla praised the side for remaining unbeaten and called the title a complete team effort.

    Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted India’s strength across batting, bowling and fielding, while Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge congratulated Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, head coach Amol Muzumdar and the support staff.

    Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also praised the team’s discipline and confidence. With their eighth Asia Cup title secured, the Indian women’s team now turns its attention to the upcoming 2026 Asian Games campaign in Japan.
