The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for August 2026. Thailand duo Suleeporn Laomi and Nannapat Koncharoenkai have been shortlisted alongside Isle of Man captain Lucy Barnett after a series of outstanding performances in international cricket.
Barnett also created history by becoming the first player from the Isle of Man to receive a nomination for the prestigious monthly award.
Lucy Barnett (Isle of Man)
Lucy Barnett enjoyed a remarkable campaign as she guided the Isle of Man to the final of the Women’s Continental Cup. She finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer after registering one century and two half-centuries.
Barnett began the tournament with an unbeaten 71 against Romania, helping her side complete the chase in just 13.1 overs. Although she scored only four runs against Greece, she responded brilliantly in the next match with an unbeaten 123 off 64 balls against Norway, securing top spot in the group. She also made useful contributions with the ball, returning figures of 1/8 against Greece and 1/11 versus Norway.
In the final against Turkey, Barnett top-scored with 59 and added two wickets for 22 runs.
Across four T20Is, she accumulated 257 runs at an outstanding average of 128.50 and a strike rate of 178.47, while also taking four wickets at an average of 14.25 and an economy rate of 3.80.
Suleeporn Laomi (Thailand)
Thailand spinner Suleeporn Laomi impressed throughout August with both the white ball and in the Asia Cup.
She claimed three wickets during Thailand’s drawn T20I series against Papua New Guinea, including figures of 2/14 in the second match. Laomi carried that momentum into the ODI series, taking four wickets, highlighted by a match-winning spell of 3/27 in the third ODI as Thailand completed a 3-0 clean sweep.
Laomi also made an encouraging start to the Women’s Asia Cup, picking up one wicket against Hong Kong, China before producing an excellent spell of 3/26 against India.
Overall, she collected six wickets in four T20Is at an average of 13.50 and an economy rate of 5.40, alongside four wickets in three ODIs at an average of 17.75 and an economy of 3.38.
Nannapat Koncharoenkai (Thailand)
Wicketkeeper-batter Nannapat Koncharoenkai was Thailand’s most consistent run-scorer throughout August.
She scored 30 and 46 during the T20I series against Papua New Guinea to finish as the leading run-getter of the series. In the ODI series, she continued her excellent form with scores of 54, 35 and 32, playing a key role in Thailand’s 3-0 sweep.
Koncharoenkai also contributed in the Asia Cup, scoring 21 against Hong Kong, China before making 41 against India, where she was the only Thailand batter to reach double figures.
Across three ODIs, she scored 121 runs at an average of 40.33 and a strike rate of 80.13. In four T20Is, she added 144 runs at an average of 36.00 with a strike rate of 86.22, making her one of the standout performers of the month.
