Lucy Barnett produced a match-winning unbeaten 71 as Isle of Man Women chased down Romania’s total of 127 to secure a three-wicket victory in the second match of the Women’s T20 Continental Cup 2026 at the Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground in Ilfov County.

Romania, led by Rebecca Blake, won the toss and chose to bat first, while Isle of Man were captained by Alanya Thorpe.

    Romania Build Strong Opening Partnership

Romania’s innings was dominated by openers Maya Kearvell and Rebecca Blake, who put together an impressive 122-run stand for the first wicket. Kearvell scored 40 from 52 balls before Isabella Clarke finally broke the partnership in the 19th over.

Captain Blake remained unbeaten on 62 from 67 deliveries, helping Romania finish on 127/2 from their 20 overs.

Isle of Man’s bowlers struggled with discipline and conceded 25 extras, although Clarke was the standout performer with figures of 2/24 from four overs. Lucy Barnett and Joanne Hicks also bowled economical spells without taking a wicket.

    Barnett Anchors the Chase

Chasing 128, Isle of Man made a positive start through wicketkeeper Libby Moore and Barnett, who added 20 runs for the opening wicket.

Romania responded with two quick wickets, leaving Isle of Man at 20/2 in the third over. Clare Crowe then joined Barnett and helped rebuild the innings with a crucial 39-run partnership for the third wicket.

Barnett continued to hold the chase together even as wickets fell around her.

A 37-run stand for the sixth wicket with Georgina Ford took Isle of Man beyond the 100-run mark and brought the target within reach.

    Barnett Finishes the Job

Barnett remained unbeaten on a brilliant 71 from just 43 balls, striking 10 fours and two sixes.

Her composed innings ensured Isle of Man completed the chase with three wickets in hand and 40 balls remaining.

Romania’s bowlers were also hurt by indiscipline, conceding 36 extras during the innings. Iuliana Muntean and Maria Ababi claimed two wickets each, while Maya Kearvell and Cristina Cirlig picked up one apiece.

Barnett was named Player of the Match for her decisive unbeaten knock, which proved the difference in a chase that required both aggression and composure.
