Australia U19 Women delivered a dominant all-round display to defeat England U19 Women by 9 wickets in Match 7 of the U19 Tri-Series in Australia 2026 at the Ian Healy Oval. Chasing a modest target, the hosts completed the task with ease, showing control and composure throughout the innings.

England U19 Women Struggle for Momentum

England’s innings never gained consistency despite a few brief starts. Mollie Adams fell early for 1, leaving the score at 1/6 inside the powerplay. Sophie Beech soon followed for 5 off 6 balls, as Filippa Suesee struck twice to disrupt the top order. Reduced to 3/29, England found themselves under pressure early.

Shristi Patil and Bryony Gillgrass attempted to rebuild, but Gillgrass was dismissed for 7 off 15 balls by Aurora Mavros. Patil added 11 off 13 deliveries before being removed by Ayaka Stafford, leaving England at 4/33.

The innings slipped further as Genevieve Jeer (1) and Olivia Cunliffe (2) departed in quick succession, reducing the side to 6/43. Diya Badge offered some resistance with 39 off 43 balls, including three boundaries, but lacked support at the other end. Bea Willis managed 5, while wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

Malisha Tennakoon remained unbeaten on 14 off 22 balls, and Maria Andrews added a single, as England finished on 100/9 in their 20 overs, with 15 runs coming through extras.

    Australia Bowling Highlights

    • Filippa Suesee: 2/23 (4 overs)
    • Emily Powell: 2/24 (4 overs)
    • Ayaka Stafford: 2/15 (4 overs)
    • Aurora Mavros: 1/14 (4 overs)
    • Mia Barwick: 1 wicket

    Australia Seal Comfortable Chase

Australia approached the chase of 101 with confidence. Indira Panelli contributed 24 off 37 balls before being dismissed at 1/64, caught off Shristi Patil, having laid a solid platform.

Alyssa Dermody then led the charge with an unbeaten 42 off 38 balls, striking five boundaries. She was well supported by Tegan Williamson, who scored 26 not out off 22 deliveries, including three boundaries.

The pair added an unbroken 39-run partnership, guiding Australia to 103/1 in 15.4 overs to complete a comfortable victory.

England Bowlers Unable to Apply Pressure

England struggled to build pressure after the early breakthrough. Shristi Patil was the only wicket-taker, returning figures of 1/24 in 3 overs. Bea Willis maintained control with 0/10 in 3 overs, while Venus Weerapuli (0/22 in 4 overs) and Bryony Gillgrass (0/13 in 2 overs) were economical but unable to take wickets. Maria Andrews and Malisha Tennakoon also bowled without making a significant impact.

    Clinical Performance from Australia

The win underlined Australia U19 Women’s strength across departments. Their disciplined bowling effort restricted England, while the batting unit executed the chase with efficiency. England, meanwhile, struggled to build partnerships and lacked momentum throughout the innings.
