England wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones and Australia seamer Piepa Cleary have announced their marriage, sharing the news through a joint social media post that read: “04.04.26 – The best day”.

The ceremony was held in Western Australia, where the couple marked the occasion with close friends and members of the cricketing community. The setting provided an intimate and relaxed atmosphere, away from the demands of international cricket. Among those part of the celebrations were Nat Sciver-Brunt and Katherine Brunt, who served as bridesmaids, underlining Jones’s strong connections within the England setup.

The announcement drew widespread support from across the cricket world. Several international players responded with congratulatory messages, including England’s Kate Cross, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu, along with Sophie Ecclestone, Alice Capsey and Maia Boucher. Messages also came in from current and former players, franchises and fans, reflecting the broad goodwill towards both Jones and Cleary.

    Established Career and Consistency

Jones has been a key figure in England’s side since making her international debut in 2013. Over time, she has established herself as a dependable wicketkeeper-batter, contributing consistently across formats. She has played more than 100 ODIs, scoring 2,659 runs at an average of 32.82, including centuries and half-centuries. Behind the stumps, she has added significant value through consistent wicketkeeping performances.

In T20 internationals, Jones has appeared in over 120 matches, scoring more than 1,600 runs and continuing to play an important role in England’s white-ball setup.

    Cleary’s Domestic Impact

Piepa Cleary has developed her career within Australia’s domestic structure as a right-arm seamer. Representing Western Australia and Perth Scorchers in the Women’s Big Bash League, she has earned recognition for her disciplined bowling and ability to deliver under pressure. Although she has not yet featured for the Australian national side, her domestic performances have established her as a reliable contributor.

    From Teammates to Life Partners

The pair first met while playing together for Perth Scorchers in the WBBL, where their connection began in a professional setting. Over time, their relationship grew as they balanced cricketing commitments across England and Australia.

They announced their engagement in 2024, a moment that was widely acknowledged within the sport and supported by the global cricketing community. Since then, their relationship has remained a visible presence within the game.

Their wedding marks a new chapter, bringing together their shared journey in cricket and beyond. The response from across the sport, along with the presence of prominent figures at the ceremony, highlighted the strong sense of community within women’s cricket as Jones and Cleary’s union was celebrated by teammates, opponents and fans alike.
