Zimbabwe Women produced one of the biggest results in their history by defeating West Indies Women for the first time in a One-Day International, securing a four-wicket victory in the second ODI at Harare.
The hosts bowled West Indies out for 139 before chasing down the target with 55 balls to spare, levelling the three-match series at 1-1 after losing the opening match by 99 runs.
The victory also marked Zimbabwe’s second-ever win over a Full Member nation in women’s ODI cricket and earned them their first points in the ICC Women’s Championship 2026-29.
Zimbabwe Bowlers Trigger West Indies Collapse
After winning the toss, West Indies elected to bat but lost Realeanna Grimmond in the second over to Michelle Mavunga. Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor steadied the innings with a 47-run partnership before Nyasha Gwanzura sparked a dramatic collapse.
West Indies lost nine wickets for just 83 runs to be dismissed for 139.
Taylor top-scored with 47, while Gwanzura starred with career-best figures of 4 for 33. Mavunga claimed 3 for 36, and Francisca Chipare chipped in with 2 for 16.
Modester Mupachikwa also enjoyed a memorable outing behind the stumps, taking five catches to become only the fourth wicketkeeper or fielder to achieve the feat in women’s ODI cricket.
Opening Partnership Lays Foundation
Zimbabwe made a confident start to the chase through Modester Mupachikwa and Kelis Ndhlovu, who shared a 67-run opening partnership.
Mupachikwa scored 38, while Ndhlovu contributed 30 before West Indies fought back through Aaliyah Alleyne, who removed two batters during a brief collapse.
Nkomo Guides Zimbabwe Home
Captain Josephine Nkomo and Beloved Biza steadied the innings with an important 30-run stand to keep Zimbabwe in control.
Although more wickets fell, Nkomo made a composed 30, while Gwanzura completed an outstanding all-round performance by remaining unbeaten on 18 to guide Zimbabwe to 140 for 6.
The hosts sealed victory with four wickets in hand and 55 deliveries remaining.
