Semi-Finals Set as Olympic Qualification Begins

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has reached its most exciting stage. After an action-packed group phase in England, the four semi-finalists have been confirmed. At the same time, the tournament has also played a major role in deciding the first teams for cricket’s return to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Many fans are now searching for the Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final schedule and wondering who qualified for LA28 Olympics. Here is everything you need to know.

Women’s T20 World Cup Semi Final Schedule

The semi-finals will be played at The Kia Oval in London before the tournament concludes with the final at Lord’s on July 5.

The first semi-final will take place on June 30 at 7:00 PM IST, where Australia will face West Indies.

The second semi-final is scheduled for July 2 at 11:00 PM IST. Hosts England will take on South Africa in another exciting contest.

All four teams have performed consistently throughout the tournament and will now compete for a place in the final.

    Who Qualified for LA28 Olympics?

The Women’s T20 World Cup has also become the first step towards Olympic qualification.

Under the new qualification rules, the highest-placed eligible team from Asia, Africa, Europe, and Oceania earned direct places for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

India secured the Asian qualification spot after finishing as the highest-ranked Asian team in the tournament, even though they did not reach the semi-finals.

Australia qualified from Oceania after remaining unbeaten during the group stage and reaching the semi-finals.

England’s excellent campaign also secured qualification for Great Britain, which will represent Europe at the Olympics under the Team GB banner.

South Africa claimed the African qualification place after an impressive group stage performance that helped them reach the last four.

These four teams became the first nations to confirm their places in the six-team Olympic tournament.

How the Remaining Olympic Places Will Be Decided

Although four places have already been confirmed, two Olympic spots are still available.

The fifth place is reserved for the United States as the host nation. However, the USA must remain inside the top 15 of the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings between June 30 and December 31, 2026.

If the USA does not stay in the top 15, the Olympic place will be given to the highest-ranked team that has not already qualified.

The sixth and final place will be decided through the ICC Olympics Qualifier in 2027. Eight of the best non-qualified teams will compete in a winner-takes-all tournament for the last ticket to Los Angeles.

    Special Rule for West Indies

One unique part of the Olympic qualification process involves West Indies.

Unlike ICC events, the Olympics only allow teams representing one country. Since West Indies is made up of several Caribbean nations, they cannot compete as one Olympic team.

If West Indies earn a qualifying position through the rankings, a separate Caribbean qualifying tournament will decide which individual nation will move on to the 2027 Olympic Qualifier.

    Final Thoughts

The Women’s T20 World Cup semi final schedule promises two thrilling matches as Australia face West Indies and England take on South Africa for places in the final.

At the same time, the tournament has answered an important question for cricket fans about who qualified for LA28 Olympics. India, Australia, Great Britain, and South Africa have already secured their Olympic places, while two more teams will qualify through rankings and the global qualifying tournament.

With both the World Cup title and Olympic dreams on the line, women’s cricket is entering an exciting new era.
