Marizanne Kapp Delivers a Stunning All-Round Show Against India

South Africa star Marizanne Kapp once again proved why she is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in world cricket. In a crucial ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash against India at Old Trafford, Kapp produced a remarkable performance with both bat and ball to guide South Africa to a memorable six-wicket victory.

Her outstanding contribution kept South Africa’s semi-final hopes alive and earned widespread praise from teammates and fans. South African captain Laura Wolvaardt even described Kapp as one of the greatest big match players she has ever seen.

The latest Marizanne Kapp vs India contest showcased the experience and class that have made her one of the most respected players in women’s cricket.

Marizanne Kapp Match Winning Performance with Ball

India started aggressively after being sent in to bat. Openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma scored quickly and looked ready to put South Africa under pressure.

However, Kapp changed the momentum of the game with an important breakthrough. She dismissed Mandhana and prevented India from building a dominant opening partnership. Later in the innings, she returned to remove the dangerous batter Richa Ghosh and finished with figures of 2 for 27 from her four overs.

Her disciplined bowling helped restrict India to 158 for 7, a total that South Africa believed they could chase.

This Marizanne Kapp match-winning performance with the ball laid the foundation for what was to come later in the evening.

Kapp All-Round Performance Leads South Africa to Victory

South Africa’s chase did not begin well. The team lost two early wickets and found themselves under pressure against a strong Indian bowling attack.

Kapp then stepped up with one of the finest innings of the tournament. She built a crucial 97 run partnership with Tazmin Brits and slowly brought South Africa back into the contest.

The experienced all-rounder remained calm throughout the chase and punished every scoring opportunity. She finished unbeaten on 81 from just 45 balls, an innings that included several boundaries and massive sixes.

As the required run rate increased, Kapp shifted gears and took complete control of the chase. Her efforts helped South Africa reach the target with five balls remaining.

The Kapp all-round performance made history, as she became the first player in Women’s T20 World Cup history to score more than 70 runs and take two wickets in the same match.

Kapp Reflects on the Big Win

After receiving the Player of the Match award, Kapp admitted that the game was challenging because of the strong Indian support at Old Trafford.

She praised South Africa’s bowlers for their disciplined effort and said the team stayed focused despite the pressure. Kapp also explained that experience helped her during the chase, especially when the required run rate started to rise.

Her calm approach and ability to handle pressure were key reasons behind South Africa’s success.

What the Result Means for Group A

The victory has made Group A much more competitive. Australia currently lead the standings, while both India and South Africa remain in contention for a semi final place.

India now face a huge challenge against Australia, while South Africa will look to build on this momentum in their remaining matches.

For South Africa, the win will be remembered for the brilliance of Marizanne Kapp, whose all-round masterclass delivered one of the standout performances of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
